Re: Portsmouth West at South Point
Don't know much about South Point, other than their backfield is stacked and their stadium is nice.
West's Defense is really good. This is no accident. West is just gonna shut most teams down. West needs to stay focused and not let themselves get the big head. Go up to South Point and take car of business. This could be a big point game for West.

Good luck to the Siders in this one and for the rest of the year. You guys hit hard and have one of the deepest backfields I've seen.

They've got Rock Hill iin Week 4 and Chesapeake in Week 5.
I've heard nothing but great things about West from the folks in the area that I trust. I think the results of their first two games speak for themselves and I don't think either game was a fluke. They are for real.

Re: Portsmouth West at South Point
I think South Point may actually play West better than Portsmouth did. They're a better running team and have more guys you will have to key on. That being said, I still look for West to win pretty handily.
Re: Portsmouth West at South Point
If you can't mix the run and the pass, you will not beat West this year. Our entire defense, front 7 to secondary is tough.
Re: Portsmouth West at South Point
West's D is something to watch...they fly to the ball. Imo west is just to much for the Point!
Re: Portsmouth West at South Point
SP will move the ball. Huge backs and Seagraves will be the best back that West has seen. He, #5 and #18 are a load to tackle. Also WB is speedy #3. SP does a great job running the Jet O. Tons of counters and mis-directions. LB must not over pursue and DE must get the play turned inside.
With that said I was unimpressed with the SP defense. Burg moved the ball at will.
Based upon West's performance with PHS They should win this game. If West overlooks SP lookout they are a dangerous team.

Agree, West has to stay focused and stay humble, take one game at a time. Congratulations Senators on both wins so far. Enjoy and move on to the next battle! Also think South Point is one of the better 0-2 teams out there.

Looks to be another non-conference loss for the OVC....
Re: WK 3 (2-0) Portsmouth West at (0-2) South Point
West has given up less than 100 yards total offense in two games combined. That is just unreal. All this with 2 Sophomore inside linebackers (Compton and Pendelton). Those kids are great know, but how good are we gonna be later in the year as they gain experience?
I thought 02 was the best defense West has ever had, these guys may be better. The team speed is better, the secondary is better, and there is more depth. It will be interesting to see how they do against a team that doesn't run the spread. I think South Point will struggle to move the ball.
