Re: Best players in school not to play ball
There is a player who did play his senior year at South Webster who did not play his Freshman. Soph, or Junior years (he transferred before his senior year). He was very good at Webster, a very good College Player, and even has a state championship ring as one of our coaches during the 2006 season. ...

Re: JAN 8 - Clay at Eastern SOC I
I haven't seen Clay play this year at all and am in no way affiliated with the administration, coaching staff, or any player. From what I can gather, there seems to be plenty of blame to go around. I agree that the coach cannot play in the game and essentially cannot be blamed for how the players pl...

Re: I think I speak for all Oaks fans when I say this....
I think that the argument of transfers only arises when a team has success. If Oak Hill wen 0-20 or 5-15, this thread would not exist. Webster won a championship in '06 and it was "only because of a transfer." It doesn't matter that the '05 team had a 19-1 record and the '06 team had a 18-...

Re: 2009 Oak Hill Oaks vs 2006 South Webster Jeeps?
South Webster's '06 team were one of the favorites to win the 2006 Championship before Brigham moved in. He definitely made the team better and increased the odds of winning the title, but the 2006 team had the same basic team from final four team from 2004. With that being said, 2006 South Webster ...

Another great addition to an already powerful staff. Congrats Shane! Hate to lose you at Webster.

Re: south webster coaching
Glad to hear Coach Rhea has joined the staff at Portsmouth with Coach Collins. He will be a great fit there. I hate that he is leaving but you have to understand it when he was "promised" the coaching job if Reese ever left, just as Coach Cole was "promised" the coaching job when...

Re: south webster coaching
Sorry, I don't live anywhere near Webster and I get my "news" from this site and from some folks that live there that I talk to. I'm glad to hear that the new coach is working with the kids. I was worried that we were still "sitting on the fence!" Good luck, Jeeps and Coach Ater ...

Re: south webster coaching
Has there been an "official" hiring yet, or is the situation still a huge secret? Most schools are participating in shootouts and looking at going to camps. Has South Webster been involved in anything yet?

Re: south webster coaching
I'm glad to hear that a decision has been made. Not having a coach really makes it difficult on the players who do not participate in a spring sport. I'm also thrilled that Coach Rhea has been working some of the kids out in the weight room. He definitely knows what he's doing in there!! I don't und...

That's a great question. I don't think anyone has any idea who is even in the running anymore. What a mess.

Re: South Webster
Great post, Pressbreaker. As you can tell, I think very highly of Brenton and his abilities and also think he would be great for the job. As far as "being ready" is concerned, there's plenty of room for argument for any applicant who would be a first time coach. Marc was a "first time...

Re: South Webster
According to most of the posts on this forum and from most of the information I have received from current players, parents, fans, members of the community, etc.; It seems that Brenton Cole is the desired applicant. With that being said, why is the administration so hesitant to give him the position...

Re: Is basketball getting to physical?
Basketball has gotten way too physical. But with most programs implementing weight and agility programs, this will continue to get worse. No point in crying, though, just PLAY THE GAME! With that being said, I think the major issue has become the inconsistency of officiating. It is bad at every leve...

Re: Portsmouth kept out of SOC again.
I agree Watcher. Most of the SOC teams end up playing Portsmouth anyway as a non-conference game. Not adding them does not make a whole lot of sense. With Oak Hill and Webster winning State (against NE Ohio Putnam County League Teams), and Burg making their recent runs, adding Portsmouth and Ironton...

Re: South Webster
I had heard that the job was supposed to be posted by the State Tournament. (Congrats, Norm and Oaks by the way!) Has there been any interviews or any other interested applicants yet? I know open gyms should either be starting or have started. It would be nice if the kids had some kind of direction ...

Re: What ever happened to the good old day's
It is amazing the sense of entitlement that many of the kids have these days. They feel as if they are "owed" a spot on a team. That, coupled with the fact that the kids get this attitude from the parents, I think is the biggest reason that coaches leave. Usually the administration, if the...

Re: Who will be Greens next Coach
The coaching fraternity is very small. Unfortunately, justified or not, quitting on a team, regardless of the situation, in the middle of the season will make it very difficult to find another coaching opportunity. Anyone who has ever coached has dealt with difficult parents and the politics of admi...

Re: South Webster
Wow, a lot of speculation... this is sweet! However, I have talked with Coach Bradley so let me clear some things up concerning him. Many do not know that he didn't even want to coach the year the Jeeps won state. He came along only to help Coach K in his first couple years of coaching. Because of h...

Re: South Webster
Brenton has coached at Webster for years. He was the JV and assistant Varsity coach for the '04 State Semifinalist team, the '05 Regional Finalist team, the '06 State Champs, the '07 Regional Semi-finalists, and stayed and assisted Coach Resse in '08, even though he was passed up for the head coachi...
