Re: Stats: Real or Bogus?
That stat from Logan Elm is laughable. You guys are right, it is impossible to rack up that many digs. Thats a good total of digs for a libero for a season of 22 matches. Coaches ( in particular the head coach ) should train their assistants and anybody who helps with stats the terminology and prope...

Re: Southeastern Volleyball 2015
Keep an eye on the usual suspects in Adena, Westfall and Unioto from the SVC with alot of preseason excitment at Huntington. You are right with Circleville as Coach Crystal is all about energy and she is giving C town a much needed transfusion. Great Coach in Athens so watch Natalie and the Bullpups...

Re: GREATEST ATHLETE FROM YOUR H.S. PROGRAM EVER-MALE/FEMALE
Chillicothe Cavaliers: Just my opinion but hard to argue with my list. 1. Garin Veris, high school football, basketball, and track. Stanford football and New England Patriots football ( also San Fran ) 2. Greg Cook, high school football and basketball. University of Cincinnati football and Cincinnat...

Re: Purpose of JV/Freshman team
George, good topic for discussion. I and my staff believed keeping a freshman team was critical to the growth of your program. We usually had 40 to 45 girls try out and tried to keep 12 for varsity, 10 for jv and 10 freshman if class had enough talent. There were a couple of seasons we kept 12 and t...

Re: Boys Volleyball
Myself and two of my later assistant coaches ( Chillicothe girls program ) attempted to get a boys club team started at Chillicothe back around 1992 i think. We had 70 some signatures from boys at Chilli on a petition, we had a start up tryout and practice plan, had fundraising ideas and took all th...

Re: Chillicothe Lady Cavs - SCOL League Champs
Congrats Coach Beard and staff and of course the student-athletes. Girls BB has not seen 15 wins since Amy Hughes left in 2008. Coach Beard has been building and has turned around a weak program in two short years at the varsity level. Keep playing strong and beat former SEOAL foe Logan this week.

Re: BEST SVC Team
George, you did say from your school so i will entertain you with some Cavalier history as Chillicothe has quite a great volleyball tradition with many of these players playing at the next level back in the day. once again i will run a 6-2 offense so i can get two setters on the team. Setters would ...

Let me also mention Jessica Lewis, Dannelle Speakman, Angie Niver, April Stamper, Hallie White, were all right there in the mix for making the all-U team for me.

Re: BEST SVC Team
George, i like the post and will reply with some debate i am sure but i can't remember all kids so help would be good. I will start with Unioto even though they are not my school ( Chillicothe see post later/ will be good ) and will give you more than you asked for. My Unioto dream team would have t...

Re: Unioto vs Athens district final
X, thanks for the history and it was fun watching them play. The X factor, if i may, is this class had very little height with all of them in the 5'8" range so they relied on mastering their skills and great athletic talent. They almost were always undersized against opponents which says alot a...

Re: Unioto vs Athens district final
Good luck to the Athens girls and Coach Natalie. She is the next generation of good coaches in SE Ohio. I hope Athens administration recognizes what they have. Go get em Nat! Tough loss for the " U " and it has been a long, fun ride for this group of seniors. They will look back on this jo...

Unioto vs Athens district final
Any predictions, thoughts or comments. After watching both matches tonight my comments are both setters are good so call that even, i give the libero from Athens the edge as she just kept getting better as the match went on. Middles goes to Athens also as the U does not bring much of a middle attack...

Re: SVC 2014 : Game of Thrones Edition
X, all teams were shortened that season due to Zane Trace overscheduled and had to forfeit their whole season i believe and all other teams voided the 2 games each played. Quite the " whoops " if you asked anyone from that time period. somebody didn't count correctly. As far as 15 years fr...

Re: SVC 2014 : Game of Thrones Edition
X well the history lesson will not play out as i was holding my cards till the last minute so i did not give the " U " a peek or motivation. The seeding was exactly the same for Chilli and Unioto as in 2008 as CHS was a 5 seed and traveled to Athens only to beat them in 3 on their floor. T...

Re: SVC 2014 : Game of Thrones Edition
This might sting a little so hold on. This is just my opinion as a former coach who sat in these meetings and fought for kids from my team and for others teams. Each league is different in number of selections and possibly the manner in selection. The SVC should revamp the volleyball all-league sele...

Re: Middle school volleyball
Cavaliers 8th grade finish with a close win at Clinton Massie 25-20 and 25-22 to wrap up the season at 12 and 5. This class has a 28-6 record in middle school and our 7th grade team finished 15-2 and undefeated in the SCOL for first place.I think the 8th grade tied for 2nd place with Miami Trace as ...
