Re: Rising Stars

Marietta has a few Sophs that could be good. Matt Morris 6'4" or so around 220 and has the temperment, just needs some good coaching. Chance Wright 6'2" receiver, needs to improve speed alittle but has GREAT hands. Quinton Coffield very quick and darty running back with big heart but lacks...

Re: Dover vs. Marietta

Marietta's biggest lost tonight was the lost of leadership with Mitchel and Justin playing their last games. Goodluck to the seniors, sorry we didn't have a better season for you. To the players, take a week or so off, then hit the weight room. Bigcat is right, it's not the hour or so you put in the...

Re: Dover vs. Marietta

A couple of points I would like to share today. One, as much as I hate the butt kicking we took last night, I thought Dover brought a very classy, brilliantly coached, and very good sportmanship team. The score could have been worse. Two, I'm so tired of all the crap about the coaching, I'm not sayi...

Re: Dover vs. Marietta

With all due respect Pressboxchamp, from a MHS fan, what offense? We need to break the game down into single plays and not worry about the score. Every play just try to make a win on any given play. The only word I can thing of is Ouch!

Re: Gallia Academy Marietta J.V. Game a touch of class

Very nice thing Gallia did last night. I don't feel comfortable putting the boys name out here but he is a nice young man. He's a sophmore at MHS and all the players have taken him under their wing. Tell your son that it was special for our players also and is much appreciated. I'm sure his parents ...

Re: week 7 Marietta 2-4 @ New Philly

Although we changed the offensive look up some we still brought the same old plays to the table, Deter off tackle or up the middle. I realize he's our best player but, come on, he's getting killed. 3 fumbles I believe (hurt his arm, heard it's not broke, thank goodness). Spread the ball around to th...

Re: week 7 Marietta 2-5 @ New Philly

Unfortunately, the injury bug may have hit Marietta hard this week, so changes on defense will have to be made. I hope Coach Eichhorn starts allowing the D line to shoot gaps and just maybe that will allow the linebackers to play without our D line in their laps. Keep playing hard boys, look for the...

Re: Week 5- Riverview (1-3) at Marietta (1-3)

Yes, 14-9 was the final. Riverview's 9 came from a safety and a block punt ran in for a touchdown. Baker was a stud last night, he was everywhere, but I worry he'll survive playing Cambridge, Zanesville, and Dover. Not to mention New Philly. We're done with the 5th game and our coaches are still not...

Re: Week 5- Riverview (1-3) at Marietta (1-3)

Marietta is struggling right now. They can't seem to put a good 4 quarters of football together on both side of the ball. Hard to find any info on Riverveiw. We NEED this win, the rest of the schedule very challenging to say the least. I hopeing for a riled up Tiger team that will get the crowd woun...

Re: Marietta vs. Parkersburg

Don't really care for the offense or the defense but love the kids. Good luck in Gallipolis this week! Springer has his issues but I KNOW he loves the kids and will do anything for them. Hopefully, he and the other coaches will open their eyes and make some needed changes. As for playing time. Gaski...

Re: best wide receivers in se ohio?

Fivecoat is pretty good but Chance Wright (sophmore Marietta) waxed him on a slant and beat him to the endzone by 8-10 yds and was opening the gap. Wright doesn't have the size of Fivecoat yet (6'2" about 195) but I'm sure Wright's faster. Warren has quite a few really good weapons not just Fiv...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Football Fever- I've been to two of the three scrimmages and I have no idea what you're talking about. What I have seen is the coaches playing alot of players in different positions to see how they fit. Leach isn't playing Friday because of a personal issue (he is a GREAT KID!!!!) EK is having some ...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

They looked alright against Athens. Baker is a beast and they'll be riding him. Gearhart is a heck of a weapon that plays really well. I would think they would want to open up the offense more to spread the D out and utilize their speed. A friend who has a son on the team called me today and said th...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

I'm not sure how familiar you are with Marietta so forgive me. Creamy Creations is on Green Street by the levy. If you know where the Laffeyette (spell) is, its the two trailors with a court yard in between them, that you can see from the hotel. They have live music there a couple of times a week. I...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

redandgreen10: your right, time will tell and after 13 weeks we will know. All I can say is last year he coached the freshman/JV squad and finished with more boys then he started with. I mentioned the profanity in an earlier post, I didn't think what I heard personnally was that big of a deal. I've ...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Just to put things straight about me (if anyone cares). I'm a supporter of all Marietta sports from the Pioneers to the girls basketball team to the Putnam Reddevils. And I'm a Bob Spinger supporter. He's the right man for the job at MHS. That being said I would like to update somethings that people...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Schenk11 No not at all. I'm just tired of the negativity towards the football program and even hits on the new weightroom. But, I believe that there are a few boys coaches that work at the MHS that are threatened by Springer as well as when Farnsworth was there. I don't know why some coaches feel, g...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

Schenk11- By no means was I putting down the success of MHS athletic program last year! So, Schenk11, Marietta has the premier athletic program in the SEOAL 7 of the last 8 years? NO need for a weightroom, our athlete's are so superior no lifting required?! You should know better than most on this s...

Re: 2011 Marietta Tigers

distance40: FYI the lunch room is being air conditioned. As far as only 10% of the school using the weight room, I hope that number is wrong!. Maybe if the other sports (and coaches) would realize the benefits of a proper weight lifting program MHS would have more successes in athletics. As far as S...
