Re: Can Joe Burrow Do It?

I think it is so awesome to see a kid from our area succeed on a big stage! He has earned and deserves to be where he is at this point and I can assure you he will be a real gem for the team that picks him to run their offense on Sundays. Bigger picture is that I hope that his success can serve as a...

Re: 10/19 Logan vs Watterson

As much as this former Loganite would love to see the Lady Chiefs keep rolling, I'm afraid it ends at Bishop Watterson. BW has some statement wins against several central Ohio powerhouse programs and it will be a mountain to climb for sure. Can't take anything away from the growth of the Lady Chiefs...

Re: QB Joe Burrow leaving Ohio State as graduate transfer

Very good move for him. Just glad that he was able to see the writing on the wall before it was too late. I'm confident that he is going to go somewhere and thrive. I seem to read the name Nebraska and Florida the most, but we'll see.

Re: The Chieftain Center

It's really great to see that they had the forward thinking to open the center up to the community as well! Something that Logan badly needs and will be a wonderful asset to the community.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

LOGAN — It appears as though the proposed formation of a new high school athletic conference involving Logan High School’s sports programs will have to wait at least one more school year. While Logan’s efforts to establish a new league over the last several months have attracted the interest of no l...

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

It's ok Locos. It's been pretty quiet in Cruiser Country lately, at least publicly anyway. I know AD supports us moving on from OCC and would need to notify by June, but crickets otherwise.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

I think the Pickerington Road light is next on the list. True that it's a pain, but hardly compares to having all of the lights in place AND having to drive through Lancaster to get to Columbus and return. As for the league, this 33 or southeast corridor collection of schools is advantageous in that...

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

Fair enough, fcfan. The way he phrased it, I took it as they needed to get to 8 to charter a new league. You're probably right that 8 is the goal for scheduling. Hate to see this thing fall apart, but sounds like we may find out soon.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

"Why are they saying they need 8 to start the league? Other leagues are started without 8."

It's most likely a minimum requirement by either the OHSAA, the Ohio BOE or both. I'm looking in to it.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

You're close GoBucks1047. I would leave New Albany out and put Hamilton Township in. HT regularly plays GM, CW and TV so it just makes sense from a rivalry, size and distance perspective. New Albany is a haul bro, even from Groveport(where I live). I can't imagine fighting through traffic down 270 a...

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

I would agree with Locos after reading the article. I still maintain that Lancaster would be too big for this new league anyway. Compared to the other potential members, they are still at that next tier athletically to where they can compete with the big boys. It's telling that GM and Canal were two...

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

Looks like the OCC realignment passed by a surprising vote of 26-5. What does this mean for the future of the new league? Well, we don't yet know who cast the 5 "no" votes so we wait and see.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

Division 5 is just awful! If ever there was a reason for Canal to leave the OCC, this would be it! No more division rivalry with Groveport and travel stinks. Especially to Delaware on a weeknight! I guess if there is to be a new league formed, we will find out very soon.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

I totally agree with that group in leaving out Lancaster and Reynoldsburg. It seems the driving force behind the OCC schools wanting out is that these are all single school districts and are at the mercy of the Westervilles, Olentangys and Hilliards who have multiple votes in shaping the upcoming re...

Looks like Zanesville could be on board. Short read, but at least they are putting it out there that discussions have taken place.

Re: "Hypothetical" new D1/D2 league south of Columbus

1st thing you think of when starting a league is football and Lancaster would just kill too many of these schools. Why get beat up in the fall with taking a chance of not having some of your best in the winter sports or even all year. Zanesville Newark Logan Canal Teays Valley Groveport this is all...
