Re: 2018 SOC 2 Football Offseason Talk and Outlook

Not sure what Oak Hill has to do with this subject. In my opinion any kind of recruiting is wrong.

Coaching and attitude play a part but in the end it comes down to the Jimmies and the Joes like Toast said.

Re: 2018 SOC 2 Football Offseason Talk and Outlook

Well from the gossip going around, if they weren't already on the OHSAA radar they will be now. Just too many things don't add up as several posters have said. The problem is proving it, especially when parents are basically the boosters that insulate the program. As far as not playing Wheelersburg,...

Re: 2018 SOC 2 Football Offseason Talk and Outlook

Any truth to the rumor that Wheelersburg may be moved to D4 this year after all? They were only 6 from D4 on this last recount. Was told that a player last year was on the team and was counted as an in district player when in fact they lived out of district. That would still be 4 from the cutoff so...

Re: 2018 SOC 2 Football Offseason Talk and Outlook

Sounds like alot of blame to go around. Parents have to protect the kids. But kids are impressionable and if this stuff is happening it is a bad look on the school. If it was 1 or 2 kids transferring it would be different, but when you have this many really good players transfer in at one time it's...

Re: 2018 SOC 2 Football Offseason Talk and Outlook

I can see all of this being the beginning of the end of the SOC 2. So Wheelersburg is getting the Jr. High kid from Valley that is outstanding in several sports. And the Jr. High kid from Portsmouth West that may be the best multi sports athlete in southern Ohio. I've heard the are also getting Min...

As true as this statement is, this stuff is exactly why amateur sports are going down the crapper fast.

12 to 15 year olds being treated like primadonnas, parents living through their kids, and schools pushing the limits of what is ethical/unethical.

Where are they at in the process?

If they had a bunch of applicants they may not be done with all the phone interviews.

Re: 2018 Ironton Head football coach

Over the past 3 months I have went to several schools and observed their off season weight lifting programs. The Schools I visited: - Wheelersburg - Ironton -Coal Grove -Rock Hill - Portsmouth West After seeing the conditioning programs in the off season I would rank Ironton at the bottom of the li...

People act like 13 year old kids are NBA free agents. His father has said to numerous people that he isn't going anywhere. He has other siblings that would have to change too. The class he is in is really good at all 3 sports and he is established there. It would be stupid to change now. But everyon...

Re: OHSAA division assignments for '18

Those numbers are interesting. That last count listed was October of 2016, so I suppose the 11th graders on that count are seniors now. Starting with seniors now down to kindergarten was the following: Wheelersburg: 93, 98, 118, 111, 136, 116, 133, 118, 130, 138, 143, 140 Valley: 50, 78, 85, 78, 73,...

Re: JH basketball scores

I took in this game and it was a sloppy game. Alot of that is the zone defense by Valley. I really don't understand what you are teaching at the middle school level playing zone all game especially when you have 5 good players. It may be best to win now, but that won't work at the next level. West p...

Curious if tournaments like this count 1 or 2 games against the number of games that teams are allowed to play? Maybe this is a good way for teams to get a couple extra games

Re: SOC-DIVISION 2

Isn't like 80% of your starting line-up on the hardwood this year "transfers"? What is even your point? Open enrollment is like complaining that too many people are driving 55MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Swear this makes zero sense. True. Difference is Oak Hill people don't deny that it's been a...

Re: SOC-DIVISION 2

It fits into Oak’s delusional mind because he/she is grasping at straws. Wheelersburg winning state has left him/her with this as a failed attempt try to bash Wheelersburg’s success once again. What I told you is true. I know both families well I have a 2 kids that do open enrollment at Wheelersbur...
