Owns several properties within the Marietta area. Some are outside the city limits but the vast majority are within Marietta city.

Re: Week 7 - Williamstown WV at Marietta
I think there could very possibly be one difference vs Williamstown for the Tigers as compared to the similarity of the Athens game. We finally showed last week that we can throw the football. It’s simply what beat Circleville offensively, not our rushing attack. Last week’s win I’m sure has positiv...

Re: 2024 All-Ohio Division II and I Boys Basketball Teams Announced
The last first team All Ohio boys basketball player for Marietta was Frank Christie in I believe, 1962. Several second team honorees in Bill Ross, Doug Bentz and Ben Howlett. Ross (COL) and Bentz (SEOAL) played in the old AAA division when Ohio only had three divisions at that time. I’m not totally ...

Great day of basketball on Warren’s campus. Quality competition. It will fill up quickly. First class shootout for this area of SE Ohio.

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Julian is an absolute joy to watch when he’s on. But there have been nights this season where he’s been a small factor in the game. With all due respect to Julian, Alex Kendall is the best all around and most versatile player in this league. He can play all five positions on the floor. How many 6” 8...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Tigers win 78-53 over Steubenville at home. Rare Saturday afternoon game. Tigers big man Alex Kendall scored at will for 36 points against the Big Red. Kendall is just as comfortable behind the three point line as he is from the paint. Had a very good shooting day. Wittekind and Knighten had solid g...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Tonight’s game between the Tigers and Warriors wasn’t the prettiest game to watch in this rivalry matchup. Shooting percentage was poor for both teams, especially Warren as I believe they finished 16-51 from the floor. Warren also struggled mightily at the line by starting off 2-8 from the charity s...

Re: Warren's Mark Duckworth Wins 400th Game
Congrats Duck. A couple other things to mention. Varsity head coach Blaine Maddox too had his 400th win early this season. I think if you’d ask Blaine how effective Duck has been at preparing these kids for varsity basketball, I believe the answer would be an overwhelming yes. The record shows it. A...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Marietta is 4-0 but Federal Hocking should by far give them their toughest test to date early in this season. FH will be well prepared I’m sure but don’t feel they can overcome Marietta’s twin towers in Kendall and Knighten. Kendall’s superb play thus far overshadows what Knighten can bring every ni...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Tigers pretty much played as poorly as they could possibly play by only scoring 16 points in the first half. Stifling defense by Marietta only allowed Massillon Perry to score 16 points in the second half. Alex Kendall showed for all to see why he’s one of the best players in the SE District. Totall...

Re: WK 1: Fort Frye @ Marietta
Coach Schob’s kids put in a tremendous amount of quality time and effort into the offseason. The number of truly coachable kids with good attitudes of this year’s team is definitely higher as well. A few new additions to the staff of younger coaches who recently played for Marietta College is also a...

Re: Blaine Maddox #400
Logan AD, Keith Meyers, showed a lot of class by having the PA announcer acknowledge Coach Maddox’s 400th win at the conclusion of tonight’s game. A very tight, hard fought game. The announcement was very well received by the Logan fans as well along with the always proud, Warren faithful. The commi...

Re: Belpre football
BJCassady - your point #4 is the one thing that most often breaks down the process in ultimately hiring a quality coach for long term success. This is the first post I’ve seen that truly speaks to the need to offer a full time position based on the needs of the district to as compared to just hiring...

Re: How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?
Exactly right. Great numbers that substantiate the point. The other thing to remember is we didn’t recruit the caliber of QB’s we’ve seen play for the Buckeyes prior to Urban Meyer being hired as our head coach. Before him, our starting QB’s were guys like Bellisari, Boeckman, Pryor, Bauserman. The ...

Re: How in the world did tOSU let Burrows go?
Fbnut is spot on in his assessment of Joe Burrow’s time as a Buckeye. To say Urban Meyer not starting him over Haskins is one of the worst decisions in the history of the sport is simply just ridiculous. Urban Meyer won a ton of games at Florida and OSU with a ‘running’ quarterback. Tim Tebow, Chris...

Re: Warren at Marietta
Tigers flat out came to play tonight. Just the exact opposite of what usually happens with the Warriors dominating the Tigers. Warren’s youth tonight was exposed for their lack of varsity experience prior to this season. For most, it’s easy for most to forget that 9 of the 11 kids on Warren’s varsit...

Re: Belpre football
All Washington County residents pay property taxes which accounts for a big part of the budget for all six of the local school districts within Washington County. Rivalry games aside, we should be rooting for every Washington Country program to succeed. Gives this small area of the state the badly n...

Re: Belpre football
Per the Washington County Board of Elections website, the Belpre School Levy was defeated last May by a margin of 52% to 48%. Failed by a measly 86 votes. The 86 votes needed for passage was only 4.47% of the total votes cast. Very doable. Nothing changed with the leadership of the football program ...

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
This too is my final post related to Marietta football. In no way were my posts meant to be disparaging towards our head coach or his staff in any way. Many of my posts spoke to my positive feelings about Jason Schob as a person. But upon reflection, I can see where some of my words could be hurtful...

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
Unfortunately, the toughest job for a new coach is still within the confines of Washington County, the Belpre Golden Eagles. They only had 16 players 9 thru 12 and some of the freshmen had never played football before. Finished 0-9 and was outscored 469-16. Board and admin made the wrong hire and it...
