Re: #1 Newark Catholic (10-1) vs #2 River (12-1)
unfortunately the River region D7 and surrounding area still remains weak, teams need to take a lead from Lucas up north and play stronger teams during the regualr season. Thats why Fort Frye finally got over the hump this year, unfortunately they got passed down Kirtland and Maria Stein from D7 , ...

Re: #1 Newark Catholic (10-1) vs #2 River (12-1)
Marion Local beat Wapakoneta in the first week of the season. It was Wapak's only loss until the playoffs. Wapak is D3.
Ohio has some excellent small-school football. I'd put Kirtland or Marion Local up against anybody of comparable size in the country.

The Green Wave also has a win over Fort Loramie 27-9. I am hoping River takes this.

Bellaire is 9-0 all-time at Sulsberger. I still think the Cadets will take this fairly easily. After that, it will definitely not be easy.

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
Marietta is 31-81-6 against their most-contested opponent. That is still Parkersburg. There's never been a lot of tradition at Marietta, while Parkersburg has certainly has more. That doesn't mean it can't be done though. I don't ever remember Marietta having any history of being particularly good.

Re: Chuck Kyle sendoff
It's too bad he didn't go out with another title. If he's going to lose, it seems appropriate that it was at the hands of Saint Edward.

Chuck Kyle sendoff (last game for St Ignatius)
Lakewood Saint Edward beat Cleveland Saint Ignatius 28-7. It was the final game for Chuck Kyle. He has 11 state titles in 40 years. He's also an English teacher. Coach Tom Lombardo and his players gathered around to say good-bye. It was a classy moment: https://twitter.com/FOX8FNTD/status/1591262723...

Re: Round 3- #5. Coal Grove (8-4) Vs # 1. Fort Frye (11-1)
If they wanted a place that was in-between, Jackson might have been a good site. When I heard about River and Caldwell, I jokingly asked a guy if they would be playing at Zanesville or Steubenville. I understand why OHSAA wants neutral sites. At the same time, this site could impact attendance on bo...

Is it now Coal Grove High School? Did they drop the Dawson-Bryant name?

Well, Linsly beat Big Red 28-27. A West Virginia team had not won at Harding Stadium since Weir in 1957.

Re: Bellaire vs Ironton: The history
Bellaire's first playoff appearance was 1993. They went 8-2 playing a schedule in which nobody had a losing season, so they had a lot of second-level points. They lost to Youngstown Ursuline in overtime in the playoff game. Their first playoff win was in 1995. That was then they lost to Versailles i...

Re: Trimble (3-0) @ John Marshall (2-1)
Ridgewood call was answered. NY had their chance to keep us on schedule, declined. Agree to disagree Two things you can't dispute are: NY voted yes for FF to come into the TVC Ohio knowing if they got in they'd have to play them every year, and Ridgewood reached out to FF for a game and FF declined...

Re: Trimble (3-0) @ John Marshall (2-1)
JM is the largest school in WV last I checked. They’re located directly across the river from Shadyside. Their program is turning in the right direction but I would give Trimble the edge by atleast 2 TDs No, John Marshall isn't even close to the biggest school in the state anymore. Wheeling Park is...
