Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
FAC could be in trouble if they expand. Almost any direction they go could mean another conference school might leave. If they do go to adding four teams, they need to go one in each direction. These four need to be within the circumference of the conference as it stands now to give the conference ...

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Won't happen, but how about adding Logan, Athens, Gallia Academy, Point Pleasant, Warren, and Marietta for 12 and split into 2 divisions of 6 or 3 pods of 4. Alternatively (more realistic, but still probably unlikely), add Waverly, Unioto, Circleville, Logan Elm, Fairfield Union, and Logan for 12 w...

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Lost in the fun discussion is a solution. Ohio should do away with conferences as the organizational building block of high school sports scheduling and go to district play scheduling like Kentucky. That would ruin HS AD's dream of being Pete Rozelle and remove a pithy topic on sports forums, but i...

Re: 2025 Southeast ◄▌District▐► -- Official Seeding/Bracket (Div-V, VI & VII ONLY) Updates and Scores Thread
Looking at the brackets, I think it would be nice if OHSAA used ladder brackets for each district(s). Rewards the regular season results and with less game overlap, can result in more $$$ for OHSAA. Keeps the number of rounds for each state bracket at 8 rounds like it was with 4 divisions. For SE, t...

Re: Logan sneaks into playoffs at 1-9
This won't happen, but I'd like to see the playoffs dropped to 14 teams per. region with 3 rounds of teams hosting playoff games instead of 2 rounds so teams can still host 2 playoff games. Top 2 seeds get a bye and host up to 2 playoff games. Seeds 3-4 host at least 2 playoff games. Seeds 5-8 host ...

Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
I think the TVC would be wise to add Gallia and the TSL schools. Get sports to 3 divisions of 6 schools with 18 schools. I think if you can get Oak Hill over Point Pleasant, that would be better, but if not, Point Pleasant is fine to add unless Logan is interested. Hocking stays as is. Ohio can be s...

I'll take a stab at what I think the TVC should do. TVC Hocking: Belpre Eastern Federal Hocking Southern Tremble Waterford A. Competitively TVC Muskingum: Alexander Fort Frye Nelsonville-York Oak Hill River Valley Wellston TVC Ohio: Athens Gallia Academy Marietta Meigs Vinton County Meigs B. Geograp...

Re: Lawrence, Scioto, Gallia, Jackson County League
Took a stab at a league merger with a couple different options. Tried to keep conference games to a minimum to allow crossovers regionally/rivals and provide flexibility as teams have different desires. Also, I don't think anyone would want Jackson in a league, Wellston ain't leaving the TVC, and I ...

Re: Oak Hill Declines TVC Offer: Remains in SOC
Thanks for the update, if the coach wanted to go to the TVC I simply don’t understand the problem. That would’ve been quickest way to build the program back up as they would’ve had a shot in most games. Wonder what happened in the meeting tonight. Those boys need to be in the weight room at least i...

Re: 16 Team Playoffs worth it?
Here's a wild idea that OHSAA won't do. OHSAA wanted money when they expanded to 16 teams and teams wanted 2 home games, but with 16, it's kinda too easy to make the playoffs and you're either competing for a home game or games or a playoff spot. Well what if we drop the playoffs to 14 teams (or 7 t...

South Webster is missing. I would add the 4 Pike County schools as well for 30 olympic, 25 football (maybe add Manchester for FB for 26)

Re: OHSAA Board of Directors Approves Expansion Proposal
I wonder how this will work with districts, regionals, etc. will they wait until the regionals to host the Convo? Will the regular season be extended or the state tournament happen sooner. This could be interesting. Well essentially, they reduced the tournament by a round of basketball going from 8...

Re: Sam Houseworth’s Analysis On OHSAA’s Division Expansion
Although looking at SE Ohio, I think they'd want 6 divisions with the top 2 divisions at 64 teams each so they can guarantee 7 districts where with 7 divisions and with 80 team D1/D2, SE Ohio might be stuck with only 6, maybe even 5, districts. ---D# Signifies Approved 7 Divisions 64 x2/168 x4: D1 6...

Re: Sam Houseworth’s Analysis On OHSAA’s Division Expansion
For the NW schools and other rural areas, I would've wanted 2 80-team divisions D1-D2 and 4 160-team divisions for D3-D6. This is essentially a 5 division format for the smaller 80% while the new D1 would be split in half creating an additional division at the top 20%. It doesn't change much, yet ch...

Re: Ute And 9 OHSAA Board Of Directors To Decide Possible Additional Divisions
So looked into the small D1 & D2, 6 division format more as opposed to the small D1 & D2, 7 division format and currently. Currently: D1 346-1300 (198) D2 193-345 (201) D3 121-192 (201) D4 16-120 (200) 80 x2/160 x4: D1 561-1300 (80) D2 401-560 (80) D3 243-400 (158) D4 164-242 (159) D5 107-16...

Re: Ute And 9 OHSAA Board Of Directors To Decide Possible Additional Divisions
I don't like 7 divisions, but I'm okay the idea of 2 reduced top divisions. Something I'd like to see is have an 80 team D1 and D2, then D3-D6 with 160 teams. This allows for 10 team districts (8 districts for D1 & D2 instead of 16). If D1 is too big, I could see 64 and 96 instead as an alternat...

Re: *Breaking* Oak Hill Officially Petitions TVC for Membership
That's something I'm curious about. My guess is go for Portsmouth, but also wouldn't be opposed of an SOC-OVC merger either (with or without Gallia Academy and/or Ironton FB)MTSWNGRVSG wrote: Thu Jan 25, 2024 2:00 pm What will the SOC due if Oak Hill does leave or will there be reaction from the SOC?
