Re: What happened to the AP Polls
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and this topic is no different. As I and most of my peers believe, you will see a number of teams winning district, regional and even state titles that are not nearly as good as teams winning those titles as in the past. But moving to 7 divisions will award...

Re: What happened to the AP Polls
I'm not sure their are competitive benefits to adding 7 divisions. I'm a little old-school and don't believe in the "Everybody Gets a Trophy" culture. I understand that is what people want today but I don't believe you water things down just so people can feel good about themself.

Re: What happened to the AP Polls
There are 9 more Final Four games this year than in the past (12 games to 21 games). But there is a bigger increase in the regional tourament. There are going to be an additional 36 regional games (semis & finals) this year than in the past (48 games increased to 84 games). Now guess who gets al...

I definitely agree! This was a very good win for the Pioneers. Division V is pretty good this year and has some quality teams. The tournament will be interesting. Keep it going ZT.

Re: 2025 Regional Tournament Sites
South Webster will have a lot easier route to the Final Four than Russia or St. Johns. Anybody that thinks a 16 or 17 win team in southeast Ohio is the same as a 16 or 17 win team in the Southwest or Northwest is not familiar with basketball in the other regions. Southern Ohio's top teams can usuall...

Re: 2025 Regional Tournament Sites
South Webster will have an easy route to the state semis or finals. It will depend on the bracket in the semis. They will be challenged by Russia (SW) or Delphos St. Johns (NW) but they will still be the most talented team in the division. Of course that is just my opinion.

Re: Ironton v Liberty Central State Championship 2024
Best of Luck to the Ironton Tigers as they rep all of southern Ohio today. They are definitely the cream of the crop in southern Ohio. Hopefully the offensive and defensive lines will play the game of their lives becasue Ironton will need for them to do just that. This Liberty Center team is legit. ...

Re: Ironton v Liberty Central State Championship 2024
This game is all about the guys up front. I don't care about the skill players in this game. Liberty Center is playing in their 2nd straight championship game so they actually had the advantage in that category. They are skilled and explosive as well. If Ironton wants a chance to win this game, then...

Re: Wk 14: (9-4) Wheelersburg vs. (12-1) Ironton
Burg has to find a way to stop Terry to have a shot at this one. Definitely will have to man him up with 12 and keep a safety over the top. Remember, defensive PI is 15 yard penalty from the LOS in high school ball, I wouldn't be afraid to grab him early in a route if needed. Almost like a box &...

Re: Expectations
I believe South Webster has a tremendous amount of pressure on them. Division I basketball players do not come around very often in small communities. South Webster has a Div-I player on its roster. They also have outstanding guard play. Add in the fact that this year there are 7 divisions and not 4...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2024-25
If Coach Collins does not take the job back (and I hope he doesn’t), then I hope the young Smith kid gets the position. The way Coach Collins was treated at the end of his tenure was disappointing and I don’t want him to subject himself to that type of treatment again. To Coach Collins credit he bai...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2023-24
Dave, Great Post. It is unfortunate that things played out the way they did. I'm not sure why the coach decided to handle things the way he did because it put PHS in a very bad situation. It was pretty obvious that he had no intentions to return to PHS since he didn't work with the team all summer a...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2023-24
My understanding is the coach his finally resigned his position at Portsmouth HS. I'm not sure but I was told last week he was listed as the head boys basketball coach at Northridge H.S. so I'm not sure why this resignation didn't happen last week. Regardless, it's time for Portsmouth to move forwar...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 2023-24
This is a very difficult situation for the Portsmouth City Schools. They are at a place financially where they can't pay anywhere close to the type salary that Northridge School District is. The board of education and the administration has a responsibility to make wise decisions for the taxpayers i...

Re: Congratulations Ryan Davis New Meigs basketball coach
I'm not sure Meigs has ever hired a basketball coach of Coach Davis's status. He is one of few southeastern Ohio coaches that have a regional championship on his resume. And that was at a school that had never won a regional championship in their school's history. I believe his status as one of the ...

Re: Congratulations Ryan Davis New Meigs basketball coach
Congrats to Coach Davis. It is good to have him back in southern Ohio. I love to see good coaches in the Southeast District leading their communities and schools. This is a "Home Run" hire for Meigs. Coach Davis did a heck of a job this past season winning a share of their league. That was...

Re: Persin returning to Webster
South Webster will be the heavy HEAVY favorite to win the state title next year in Division VII. They will definitely be the most talented team in Division VII with a legitimate D-I players. Regardless of Coach Persin's health, I believe Coach Fenton will be able to lead the team and get them to Day...

Re: Seven Divisions Won't Change This Problem
Seven Divisions will not help with any problem that is facing the OHSAA and in my opinion will only add to the problems. Anybody that doesn't think the change will add a huge profit to the OHSAA has not done their homework. Sinjinian made the statement that he totaled up the number of tournament gam...

Re: OHSAA Division II Final 4 - Fairland Lady Dragons (26-1) v. Laurel Gators (18-10)
Both Portsmouth AND Fairland should win state championships next year (‘24-‘25). With the seven division it will be much easier to finish the job. The only thing that can derails either one of them are injuries. We will start to see more and more state titles from the Southeast District with the new...
