Re: State Championship 14-0 Kirtland v the 13-1 Ironton Fighting Tigers
From Thurs Dec 5 Cleveland Plan Dealer (Cleveland.com): Kirtland’s OHSAA state championship return starts at the ‘Church of Iron’ KIRTLAND, Ohio — Ray Sullivan opens Kirtland’s weight room every day. On Sunday mornings, it is the “Church of Iron.” Sermons this year required extra donations of sweat...

Re: State Championship 14-0 Kirtland v the 13-1 Ironton Fighting Tigers
I wonder if Coach Mark Dantonio is allowed by recruiting rules to come to the game Saturday for physical support to one of his old players (coach Pendleton)??

Re: State Championship 14-0 Kirtland v the 13-1 Ironton Fighting Tigers
Reading thru the News-Herald near Kirtland. they show some respect but have confidence in playing well and keeping their streak alive. Extract from article: "As the Hornets celebrated their state semifinal on Nov. 30 at Strongsville, they turned their attention to the state championship game an...

Re: State Championship 14-0 Kirtland v the 14-0 Ironton Fighting Tigers
We went to the HOF the day of the '73 state championship game vs Cleveland Benedictine. DIck Gallagher (former Tiger coach and Ironton Resident) was the HOF Director back then. He had a mannequin wearing a TANKS jersey as tribute. It would have been a great trip if the Tigers had won. Too bad so few...

Re: WK 11: Wellston (7-3) @ Ironton (9-1)
Does OHSAA take over all media for games or will the Ironton streaming system still carry the 1230 radio broadcast?

Re: Turf causing the injuries?
Oh, I forgot, the real reason injuries are higher today is speed. Back in my day of the late 60's early 70's, Offensive linemen were 155-205 pounds. they ran 40's in about 5.0 seconds Today O-Line runs 200-275 and run the 40 in sub 5.0 times Force is Mass times Velocity squared. so the force in a ta...

Re: Turf causing the injuries?
If it were 20 years ago with the predominate artificial surface being Astroturf, then 1/2" thin foam padding, on top of asphalt or concrete, I'd agree. but today's FieldTurf surfaces and their competitors, I'd say no, the surface is as good as grass, but Ok, maybe not as soft as field mud. Fiel...

Re: OVC WK7 Rock Hill @ Ironton
Dang, I remember going out to a Rock Hill game to see a friend start for the Redmen, and out comes Lutz, with his Flyers, opening up a can of whoopa$$.
