Re: Pithers to watch for in the SOC

Conner Phipps from Clay is a consistent pitcher, not very fast, but always throws strikes!

Re: SOC I who will win

I really think that Clay should be the front runner. They have improved a ton over the last few seasons, with a proven baseball man now at the helm, the title is within reach!

Re: SOC Previews at Northwest

Fundamentals are a constant; a given if you will. Defending a coach by saying that he focused on fundamentals is like saying a lumberjack focuses on sharpening his axe—it’s a given. Coaches at the lower levels should absolutely be teaching fundamentals, but also introducing the system within wh...

Re: SOC Previews at Northwest

Jakes kid must not be getting to play much. They have been all right since junior high. Compton did a nice job with them. They have never been great! nor have they consistently won a lot! Sorry, but I don't have a kid (any more) in the picture. But you do bring up another question. Compton was a fu...

Re: SOC Previews at Northwest

Couple of curious scores in this one ... Oak Hill score stands out a little to me, ND that good or Oak Hill youth exploited some? Also the PWEST Clay game sticks out ... PWEST down or is Clay a pretty solid team? Note I'm from OVC country so I know little about SOC play early in the season. Seems t...

Portsmouth Clay Basketball Top to Bottom

I haven't heard anything about the Panthers for a while. I know the Sophomores are the real team, but what are their chances to do damage in the SOC?

Re: Predictions for SOC I, II and OVC

I'm with you lightle04, Eastern and Western are still ahead of most other SOC 1 teams, but Notre Dame might have some say in their place with possible transfers coming. Clay will never go very far under Betton, he can't coach to win the close games. The Panthers will need the talented (remaining) So...

This would be correct. I asked a person close to the situation, they said Compton is no longer coaching at Clay.

Re: Clay Panther Baseball

Glad to hear Compton is staying with baseball. He is a great influence on the kids, was a breath of fresh air for this team last year. I look for the Panthers to be competitive for a nice stretch to come. Go Panthers!

Re: 8th Grade Boys Basketball - Scores

I once again witnessed a classless exhibit from New Boston's junior high boys coaches. Clay's coach Compton showed more restraint than I would! I would have punched them in the nose! NB had at least 3 starters still in in the forth quarter, going against Clay's second string 7th graders! I talked to...

2014 Clay Panthers

I'm not here to talk about coaching, but I think this team is better than what they've shown. I think a little fan support at the games would go a long way to help energize these boys! I have been to a couple games where it was quieter than a funeral! Come out and be vocal Panther fans! Cheer for th...

Re: Eastern Pike @ Clay

A hard loss to take. Was ahead by 1 point with less than a min. Eastern shoot a big 3 goes ahead by 1. Clay has a kid bring ball down that should be a post player and turns it over. Clay was out coached, overall good game. I totally agree. This game was Clay's to win/lose. Too many silly mistakes, ...
