Re: Round 2 Granville @ Jackson
No ejection. The call was targeting though. I guess it was just treated like a normal personal foul You are correct. Targeting in high school doesn’t work the same as it does in college. It’s merely a personal foul. There CAN be an ejection if, in the opinion of the officiating crew, it warrants an...

Re: Round 3. Waterson v Jackson
Location possibilities: Chillicothe, Teays Valley, Hamilton Township, Miami Trace, Logan. The Burg/Harvest Prep game could take the Chillicothe location Friday night. Miami Trace and Logan are somewhat too far out of the way but still possibilities. Also, we don’t know which schools have requested t...

Re: WK5 PORTSMOUTH VS GALLIA ACADEMY
As an official I'd like to know if you seen the obvious block in the back that lead to one of gallia touchdown? Or the fumble that was gave to Gallia when Portsmouth QB was obviously down and only fumble after he was down trying to get up? And I also thought gallia got across the goal line on the t...

Re: WK5 PORTSMOUTH VS GALLIA ACADEMY
Nah I know the rules and just watched a replay of what happened, he picks up the ball at the 13 gets hit fumbles it and picks up the ball close to the 1 get hit and fumbles it forward out of the end zone back into the field of play where Portsmouth recovers. Horrendous call by a bunch of guys who s...

Re: WK5 PORTSMOUTH VS GALLIA ACADEMY
I’ll start off by saying the QB for Gallia is really tough. Felt like I was watching Big Ben, kid was relentless. The Trojans fought hard, but a few things prevented them from winning. Read through this post and you can see the refs played a factor in the outcome, think I even seen a Gallia fan say...

Re: NY at Fairland PI Call
Don’t count on OHSAA ruling on anything. I don’t remember them ever changing the outcome of any football game due to officiating “errors”. Short of an official committing murder on the field, I doubt they will get involved. Privately they might deal with officiating issues but the public will never ...

Any idea when OHSAA makes the ruling? I’m sure NY will protest the game. CG could have to make the long trip to Nelsonville Don’t count on OHSAA ruling on anything. South Point at Huntington tonight. Two winless teams. Both give up an average of 42 points a game.
Hillsboro at Portsmouth West next Saturday October 31.

Re: Jackson ironmen 2021
I know they return alot of skill players! Who do they return? How many seniors was on the 2020 team and who were they? Jackson seniors are Isaac Kuhn, Brandon Webb, Landon Erwin, Macon Perrill, McManaway, Davis, Blake Cross, and Aden Strawser. The 2021 team will be very good. Possibly one of the be...

Re: Offsides-delay of game
As an official with 24 years experience, I do not see how it is possible to have these two penalties at the same time. As was pointed out, if one team was penalized for encroachment (there is no such penalty called “offsides” in high school football - it does not exist), then it has to occur before ...
Re: No Flag?
Grant Mastin certainly is a beast on the field. I’ve followed his football career since his pee wee playing days. He’s also one of the nicest and most respectful kids you’ll ever meet off the field. I don’t know what the future holds for him but I do know he is drawing interest from numerous college...

Re: Jackson vs Washington...Week 3
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.... this year and next years Jackson football teams will be among the best in school history. The kids who are juniors this year are a phenomenal class of football athletes. Mix in the younger kids (such as the talented freshman running back) and others an...

Re: Ohio Scheduling Question
Actually, the permissible scheduling is as follows: 1) teams can elect to participate in the playoffs or not participate. 2) if they do elect to participate, they will have at least one playoff game 3) once they lose in the playoffs, they can continue to play games through week 12 (November 13/14). ...

Joe Burrow Caught His Own Pass
Burrow caught his own deflected pass against Georgia. That brings back a memory of the same thing happening in a high school playoff game in Chillicothe. I remember it happening but that’s where my memory fails me. Does anybody remember who Athens was playing and what happened when Burrow caught tha...

Re: Jackson Ironmen 2020
I believe Jackson will be very good for the next two years at least. The kids who are sophomores this year are very talented. They should only get better. When they are seniors I believe we could see one of the best teams ever at JHS. Combine those seniors with Winters at QB (he will be a junior the...
