Re: Today's Athletes = Training vs. Durable

A common feedback from all angles during this discussion has been the specific sport getting overplayed. It is a great/fair point. The "club" scene of every sport, with the normal off-season work of school teams, and then of course the regular season all adds up to certainly allowing athle...

Re: Today's Athletes = Training vs. Durable

Great points! At first, you think you are just talking about a college/pro topic, but you wonder how much of this really does exist at the high school level. As a high school coach of 28 years, the main thing that jumps out at me is how much training takes place with coaches/leaders outside of the h...

Re: Division IV Southeast District Records

Paint Valley beat Piketon tonight.

PV is now 13-3.

Lost twice to Adena (who is 14-2). Other loss at Huntington (11-6) in double OT.

PV has two D2 road wins this year at Unioto and at Hillsboro. Undefeated against D2 and D4 this year.

The standard and treatment of high school athletes

Shayne and Matt discuss treatment of athletes. Should they be held to higher standard? Is it truly a privilege to play high school sports? Does the school do more for the athlete or does the athlete do more for the school? Should athletes be given special "breaks" due to their time commitm...
