Re: South Gallia Band
I want to thank everyone for their support and believing in the kids. They have worked so hard and really made me proud to be their director! It's been a fun season and we hope to continue to grow. I don't think it could have happened without so much support from the community and I truly want to th...

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
I have checked with many people, and the actual rule on this is that we are not allowed to use our instruments while the ball is in play. This is the same rule that is in effect during football season and it is up to the director to make sure that the band's song selection doesn't run into game-time...

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
Since the game was cancelled due to weather we will be taking another stab at Pep Band for tomorrow nights ball game (2/6). We have several music majors from MU coming down to support the Rebel Pep Band and sit in with the band for the game. Since so many of our band members are very young, this wil...

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
There will only be about 10 MU members, but it's going to be a great opportunity for the kids in band and it's going to make for an exciting Pep Band Squad!

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
I know that many people in this area used to play and we welcome alumni to join us in the pep band. So many of the kids are young and it is sometimes limiting to help them all by myself. I welcome all the alumni support that we can get since we only have a few high school kids trying to lead the gro...

Re: Rock Hill @ South Gallia
I'd just like to see the "adults" out here remember that they are talking about a bunch of high school kids that work very hard at a sport that they truly ENJOY!!! The Rebel Atheletes are a great bunch of kids! It would really be a nice change to see more people give them credit for their ...

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
The SG band played at the game on Tuesday night and we had a good time. The band is very young, and scheduling is a challenge, but we had a good time and the kids had a chance to grow. We are a very young group and I am proud the band because they have so much school spirit and they want to be a par...

Re: Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
So it will be ok to use the drums...WITH the cheerleaders...when they lead chants to rally the crowd during time-outs and between the quarters. The band could even lead a few cheers if the timing was right I had heard that the band couldn't play at all during the game...I am glad to hear that this w...

that's what I thought, but I'd heard that we weren't allowed to play so I thought I'd better check.

Rules for Pep Band at basketball games
I have heard two different stories as far as the rules for pep band at basketball games. 1. The students can't play their instruments while the ball is in play (time outs and between quarters is ok). and 2. The students can't play their instruments at all during the game...only in before game and du...

Re: Dose SG have a band and if so how big and good are they?
SG's band is a work in progress, but in time they will be very good. Work in progress is the best way to expain it! We finished our marching season with about 25 kids in the marching program but it will definately grow over the next few years. Last year the band started at ground zero...this year t...

Re: SHOULD CHEERLEADING BE CONSIDERED A SPORT
OK...I can't ignore this anymore! Cheerleading is a sport. Some people think that just because something doesn't involve a ball it isn't a sport. However, I must say that cheerleading is definately a sport when it is done right! It takes athletics, skill, grace, practice, and commitment just like an...

Re: South Gallia Varsity Volleyball
I would like to congratulate the Lady Rebels for not only working hard...but for loving the game and their school. These young ladies work hard and are not only good athletes, but they are good students and nice girls. Best of luck to you and your coach...it's great to see students proud of their sc...

Re: SG Band
The kids did a GREAT job last night and I am very proud of all of them. We had about 6 kids that did not march last night, but the ones that were there really showed their stuff and nailed their drill. I thank everyone for their support. This is an exciting group to work with because they believe in...

Re: SG Band
Thank you! We had a GREAT day at MU and the band is really pulling it together. The kids have been working really hard and they are looking forward to Friday night's homecoming show. I think that it is very fitting that we are finally back in uniform for Homecoming(at least the best we can). We have...

Re: New Rule for Bands Supporting Their Teams
The band just isn't allowed to play while the ball is "in play".......we do this during basketball games all the time! There called 30 second "teasers" and chants. Full songs just get played before the game, during half-time, and the breaks between quarters. There is also that li...

Re: SG Band
Due to the youth of both the students, and our program, we do not travel to the away games . Many of our students are first year band members and some of them are fairly young so they are not ready to travel. Hopefully in a few years they will be ready and I'll have a booster's organization to help ...
