Re: Back Yard Brawl Piketon vs. Waverly
I wouldn't call that game a classic. The loss should burning in Piketons memory. Giving up 50 some points or whatever it was, lack of defense on both sides of the ball. Entertaining is a better term for the game, 50 plus points for both teams. Waverly capitalized on lack of focus down the stretch by...

Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
eddie, I can't name any particular team. I would say the larger division teams in Ashland or Huntington would play us and the travel would not be that far. Playing Fairland or Gallia does not give the playoff atmosphere needed to prepare Burg for the playoffs. I just think even if we lose to a large...

Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
I have watched the burg play for several years now. It seems to me that for the last couple of years their schedule has been lacking the strength it once had. The non-conference games were much stronger under Coach Lewis. Besides Ironton the rest of the non league games are just average opponents. I...

Re: Oak Hill gets win over Minford
catch24, I would say in past 15 years say from 1994 to present, southern ohio has sent just as many teams to the final four as we did in the previous 15 years before 1994. Good athletes will be good and will develop in some way or another. Development may even be better today due to travel ball and ...

Re: Oak Hill gets win over Minford
Milk jugs, barn wall, wiffle ball sounds like a bunch of aging athletes that get better the older they get. Memory fades from the actual truth, the more we tell the story of hitting a milk jug floating 90 or 100 feet in the creek the more we believe it. Four soc 2 teams have a combine loss record of...

Re: Is High School Baseball Numbers Declining?????
I'm sure many things can explain why numbers are down this year. One thing for sure, it takes a special athlete that can come to the plate clear their mind and hit a breaking pitch, off speed or fastball low and away. Many entering high school realize this and either work hard at it or decide not to...

Re: PDT Coverage
I think PDT is doing the best they can. I really think it is great for our town how
they have involved Portsmouth third graders to do some of the writing. The spelling
errors are kind of cute as these youngsters expand their vocabulary.

Control freak? I think that just may be a compliment. A definition of a control freak is one who cares greatly about something and sees to it that things are run the best way they know how. Discipline is something most people can't handle, setting a rule and following the punishment of the rule is h...
