Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
I am going to jump in here on a lot of people's favorite topic "fantasy leagues". I have talked to and am friends with a few AD's in the SEO area. NONE of them want leagues with divisions. This eventually leads to scheduling problems, travel issues for non-revenue sports, and problems with...

Re: Washington court house football
My brother in law is a union rep for a teachers local. He said that supplemental contracts are set by the teachers contract in all public schools in Ohio. Non-certified people are paid a set rate. Teachers would get a percentage based upon the number of years the said teacher has. That can be the on...

Re: Marion Local Football 'The Elephant In The Room'
I was at a clinic where Coach Goodwin was speaking at. Not sure it was the same one teach1coach2 was referring to. Anyway, I simply asked him if I could visit and talk some football. So a few weeks later, I drove over to Maria Stein and talked with him for almost 2 hours. Later that year I went and ...

Re: WK9 Vinton County @ Nelsonville-York
I have seen VC play twice and NY once. Nelsonville was pushed around pretty good by Wellston. VC I believe is better up front and more physical than Wellston. IF Vinton County can take care of the ball, they win 21-7. VC is not flashy . . . they just pound on you and wear you out. They have not done...

Minford fans complaining for years about Coach Daniels running the Wing-T, winning 8 or more games each year, and playoff trips. Hey, you got your spread offense and 5-5 records. Enjoy!!

Re: Downs out at Vinton County
Don't understand this process at all. If there are no teaching jobs (I think Coach O'Rourke teaches math), why would they waste his time interviewing him? Also, if he interviewed last time and knew he couldn't/wouldn't take the pay cut, why interview again? Makes no sense. Maybe the board at VC is j...

Re: Downs out at Vinton County
I would like to ask this question for all those that say Coach O'Rourke has applied AGAIN and has an interview. But first let me say this, I hope he does come back. He is a very good coach and will probably get VC winning again. Here is the question . . . why interview him? I mean, you don't have AN...

Re: Downs out at Vinton County
Bethel I can see . . . Jack O'Rourke has to be fairly close to retirement. That would be around 30 years teaching. Vinton County will/can probably pay him for 10 years experience. It makes a lot sense for him to come back to VC and take a 30 to 40 percent pay cut. Don't believe it for a minute.

AMEN Fonzie . . . been out of coaching for a while. Got out at the right time . . . kids HAVEN'T changed . . . parents are rapidly ruining sports in our country. Many of the posts on here reflect that. Good luck to whomever takes this job, the Wellston job, and the Vinton County job. They are in for...

Re: Your schools best team(s) ever!
Not from Nelsonville, but knew Coach Boston Sr personally. I saw both play and the 2017 NY team would get physically destroyed playing the '81 team. Also, the '82 team that lost in the regional finals, at I believe Lancaster, would have beaten the 2017 team. I understand different styles of play, bu...

Re: New Coal Grove Coach???
I have heard that happened hsfbfan . . . However, school boards change and administration changes. Correct me if wrong, but didn't that happen 8 - 9 years ago. Poo Bear, I am talking about Pro/Con between Wellston and Coal Grove. Seems like every time any names are mentioned about this job the repli...

From someone that doesn't have a horse in this race . . . since most of this speculation revolves around a person that we must not be able to mention by name . . . Re: Vinton Co. Coaching Search - 2015
I can't help but think you are a little frustrated there Dundas. If I am not mistaken, the school board can/could call a special meeting anytime to vote on contracts. At least I would hope they could. You don't want to wait until May to get your coach named. At least it sounds like this guy has some...

Re: Vinton Co. Coaching Search - 2015
So, if I am to understand this correctly . . . Vinton County had a pretty solid group of coaches apply for the job. However, the people in control decided to give and/or offer the job to the track coach? What kind of experience does this coach have? Also, he hasn't coached for quite a few years? Thi...

Re: TVC says no to Jackson and Warren
Can anyone give me a reason why the SCOL would take Logan or Jackson? A lot of people are having fun coming up with these crazy league scenerios. I don't think the SCOL will take either Jackson or Logan. They have no reason to do so. A lot of teams don't get admitted to leagues when they apply. Once...

Re: TVC says no to Jackson and Warren
I have posted this every time this has come up. I am pretty good friends with an AD from a TVC Ohio school. He told me back when this was first proposed (which time!) that Jackson would get 1-2 votes at the most. I saw him at a basketball game at the Convo last week, and he told me the same thing ag...

Re: Vinton Co. Coaching Search - 2015
Dundas, you commented earlier that Vinton County does have teaching jobs open. I pose this question to you . . . do you think they will hire for the teaching job or try and hire the best coach that applies? I am just looking for your opinion. You seem to have a pretty good feel for what the situatio...

Re: Vinton Co. Coaching Search - 2015
Vinton County could be a good job for the right guy and if he gets the support. I know Coach O'rourke personally. He did a great job with the Vikings. I am really glad this thread hasn't gotten nasty. Sometimes that happens when a coach leaves or is asked to leave. Most coaches work so hard and are ...

Re: With days of SEOAL numbered, Jackson looking for new lea
I can tell you that the TVC is out. I have a good friend that is a TVC Ohio AD. He said Jackson tried to get in the league a few years ago (pre TVC/SEOAL merger crazy talk) and they didn't get any consideration. He has told me the AD's, the principals, and most importantly, the superintendents like ...
