Re: (New) Twin State League
Despite it sounding good to us I talked to a Williamstown insider yesterday and they aren’t going anywhere. They are in a good place they believe in their sports program and the community loves the school as it is. The source said they are actually going to grow in enrollment over the next 10 years,...

Re: October 13, 2023 Point Pleasant (WV) 47 - 41 Marietta
PP live stream was fantastic and much appreciated. Marietta was unstoppable for 3 quarters and were up 10 with less than 7 minutes left I believe. Gave up 16 unanswered points late in the game. Late turnovers and game management decisions, along with great clutch play by PP, made the difference. All...

Re: Wellston - Meigs
Watched Meigs play Marietta last night. A lot of the same names from last year. Cleland and Burnem are both really good athletes and they have decent size on the line, but struggled to do anything on offense and the Tigers pretty much scored at will. Wellston is improved this year and I think they ...

Re: Marietta High Football 2023
Being a 14 seed or higher could net them a game against a team like Bishop Watterson, London or Bloom Carroll. That would be ugly. Just making the playoffs can be a program builder. I would agree when 8 teams per region made it but at 16 teams ? I don't know. I'm just not sure if this program can t...

Re: Marietta High Football 2023
So we are in the playoffs win or lose? Yes, I believe so. A win against Meigs would essentially clinch a spot. Even at (3-7), Drew Pasteur Fantastic 50 has them at a 92% shot to make it in. Honestly not sure how I feel about that, but finishing 6-4 and having a winning record for the first time in ...

Re: Week 6: Marietta (3-2) @ Williamstown WV (4-0)
Williamstown QB is a pure gamer. What a clutch second half performance. Marietta had the better team, but he was the best player on field and difference maker. Marietta is much improved, same old tough Williamstown. They know how to win.

Re: WK 1: Fort Frye @ Marietta
FF looked beatable tonight. Maybe this will be the year someone in Washington County finally takes them down Missing 3-4 of its best players. They definitely are different team but once you have Miller on side , Riddle on the other and Ross Schulthies at FB with the strength being the line it will ...

Re: WK 1: Fort Frye @ Marietta
So much credit to Coach Huck and his program. I’m not sure FF was the most talented team on the field tonight but they know how to win. So well coached and disciplined. His play calling was perfect. Marietta has athletes and need to gain some confidence. A great and exciting game.

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
TigerFan15, I really respect your opinion, so is there hope of reviving the program at all, and with the current coach? Really great guy, but can he coach? 9 or so years and never a winning record? Is it time to seek new leadership? I just can't imagine him turning it around and drawing more student...

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
This is exactly the answer. Football interest has to be built back up in the community at the youth level. Soccer is incredibly popular in town, and the facilities for youth soccer are just so-so. Youth baseball does well too and the their facilities have been improved greatly in the last few years ...

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
That’s a great post TigerFan15. Really shows the disconnect between the admin, the community, and the program.
The WV state 16-17 year old dead lift champ is a junior at Marietta. Nobody has ever asked him about playing football. Football is just not that important at MCS.

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
Marietta left for the ECOL when the SEOAL expanded. The travel was brutal, and the gates were much smaller as well. Initially the gates were bigger with the ECOL, but in the long run there’s just not a good conference fit, that will take Marietta, in the region. When Marietta owned Don Drumm it was ...

Re: Marietta football - What's the deal ?
Really great posts on here, I'll add and reiterate..... The Coach is a really nice and good guy, and yes his wife is in admin. Very few schools will keep a coach this long who has never won. Every year we are seemingly young and rebuilding. A few years back we scheduled "down" to smaller s...

Marietta Football—-Building for the future since 2003. Marietta winning Seasons since 1980: 1983: 6-3-1 1990: 7-3 1999: 6-4 2001: 7-3 2002: 8-3 That’s 5 winning seasons in 42 years. Re: Week 10: Warren (3-6) @ Marietta (3-6)
The OHSAA expanding to 16 teams is purely a financial decision. Ridiculous ticket prices with the OHSAA now keeping all proceeds as compared to years past with each school participating in receiving a portion of ticket monies. Decisions such as this based on greed only waters down the quality of co...

Year after year the two of the best total football programs in the area. I emphasize the word program, as they start teaching the system in middle school and are good whether they are young or not. Neither program excepts excuses.
Hope they both go a long way in their playoffs.
