Re: WK 2 (1-0) Wheelersburg @ (0-1) South Point
History does not fair well for the burg in week 2. 0-3 on the road during week 2 over last several years. Even with wins at home during week 2 they were ugly. The question will be how the team responds after a huge emotional, physical, and mental toll which was taken during week 1 vs Ironton. I have...

Re: 3rd annual "Are Power Cleans Good for Football" Debate
Power cleans are better period. It is like anything else however, if not tought properly then the risks could be greater than the benefits. That is why a lot of high school coaches do not teach the technique. Plus they just do not know how to teach it. From personal experiance I can say that platfor...

Re: 2008 Wheelersburg Pirates Football
I heard today that Eaton, Tilley, and Gill are not coaching next year because of jobs and family. It looks like there will be a lot less coaches on the sidelines in 2008. It is probably not a bad thing. I am excited to see the changes that are made and I will support the Pirates both staff and playe...

Re: Wheelersburg's New Football Coach
There is a lot of talk about the new hire. Everyone agrees that woodward is a great person and a good coach. There is anger on the minds of a few because they feel as though they should of been opened up for all to apply. Regardless of how the process would of unfolded woodward would of been a top c...

I am sure there will be more to come tomorrow or this evening. Sounds like he will be meeting with media after school in Indiana today.

Tomorrow you can read all about it. At least that is what this article says.
Looking forward to see his response to the media questioning tomorrow.
Good luck Coach Lewis!

Woodward will be an excellent head coach someday. Maybe it will be the head coach at wburg next year and maybe not? Only time will tell. You can not expect to hire someone and ask them to commit for a lifetime. You have to decide if they are the best candidate for the job amongst all that apply. I k...

Mark Eaton was a scholarship player at unc wilmington. He averaged 29 points per game his senior year. not sure how many points before that, but i know that the 3 point line was established in high school his senior year. He has to be at the top of the list when it comes to players at wburg. I know ...

I have seen many times where a kid matures a lot faster than the kids he is competing against at the 5-8 grade range. The kid is dominant at that age but when all the other kids catch up physically in highschool the kid doesn't turn out to be the dominant athlete he was when he was younger. It's no...

Administration can prevent a kid from being held back. Ask the Whitley kid @ wburg. As far as a child being held back in jr high for sports.... who cares! It will not hurt a child, it could only help them. My thought is that if it does not concerne me then let them do what they think is best for them.

I am glad the topic of being held back or starting in pre first has been brought up. Many people will disagree with me on this topic, but I personally believe that it is up to the child and his or her parents. It is not against the law to do either of the above. However, school administration can st...

To what are you or your source comparing the weight lifting program of lewis....too? I recall the very first thing that he did when he got here was organize a fund raiser that placed an up to date weight room together for all student athletes at wburg. Prior to that wburg was lifting with equipment ...

One more thing.... Mrs GunpowderPete ,who do you think should be coaching the pirates? What direction should they be headed in? Maybe you should get the 90% of those who do not like coach Lewis and go to the school board and ask for him to be fired. Then you could take over and win the 2nd state tit...

mrs gunpowder pete. I pray that you did not graduate from wheelersburg h.s. because your math sucks. 90% cracks me up. All of your posts on every topic are negative with the exception of one after the Waverly game. Do me a favor and pick another team to support. My guess is that your son didnt get t...

The bottom line is this: If you love football then you play the game. I can not speak for the Minford coaching situation, but at wburg I can not think of one player who started the year before and did not play the year after. You always lose a couple of players because of multiple reasons or excuses...

I like how Barrick shook it up tonight with a new starting line up! The five that were on the floor to start the game gives Wburg the best chance to win. Those 5 are not afraid of making mistakes and will get after it on offense and defense. Having Cook and Conley coming off the bench will be a good...

who cares if we lost the game and who cares if they left their starters in. We did the same things last year. When you have a good team and you are blowing people out, should you just not let your good players play? No let them play the game. Chilli has to get better too! The thing that disappointed...

Have to give oak hill credit I thought when burg went up by six late in the third that they would pull away. Oak hill struggled around the perimeter when burg was abe to pressure the ball handler. Foul trouble late in the game prevented that pressure. I do not think it was home cookin, but I do thin...

close game till the end and the burg pulls away by 12. Oak Hill just like everyone else will be up for the game. Especially after the thumpings they recieved last year. Same holds true for everyone wburg plays this year. Ticket sales should be up at WHS because everyone thinks they can beat the burg!

I look at burgtowns comment about wburg coach not getting more players out for the team and that should be a factor in allowing a coach to remain or stay. Give me a break! Times have changed. Parents get to involved and kids are less motivated. There was a time when the coach would instruct a player...
