Re: junior high bball studs?
Once again, OHSAA has rules for kids in Ohio! Only two kids from the same school can play on a team together. So, as talented as the Ironton kids are they do have rules they must follow. AAU teams are no exceptions.

Re: junior high bball studs?
OHSAA has rules that must be followed. Jr. High is only allowed to have a maximum of 14 games and 1 post season tournament. That is probably the reason they didn't play in all those KY. tournaments!!!

Re: Holdbacks
I do realize that the topic is about "holdbacks" but CrazyMidget is the one who mentioned that her 12 yr. old is smaller and having to go up against kids that are larger. She mentioned size. Does she know for a fact just how old these so-called larger kids really are or is it unfairly spec...

Re: Holdbacks
What about the families of kids who are bigger for their age but are the correct age? People tend to make quick judgements of these children because they are taller, heavier, etc. Some may have medical conditions that cause them to grow unusually quicker. Do you think it is easy for a parent of one ...

Re: junior high bball studs?
It is really interesting to see that this post has mentioned teams from Piketon, Wheelersburg, etc. and when Ironton is mentioned then people are always bringing up that they are held back. Why is that? What is so hard about accepting the Ironton team for their athletic skills and ability to win gam...

Re: Who Is Coaching Ironton Jr. Basketball
I didn't realize Bowling was a basketball coach. I thought he coached football. I have actually heard every coach's name mentioned at least once!!! Shouldn't conditioning be starting soon?

Re: junior high bball studs?
I would have to agree that Ironton's 8th grade stands out. They went undefeated last year and I would say they will play the same teams this year. They even scrimmaged Wheelersburg last year and beat them. Best of Luck for a new season!

Who Is Coaching Ironton Jr. Basketball
Does anyone know who will be Ironton's 7th and 8th grade basketball coaches? I have heard so many different names. Wonder what the big secret is?

Re: AAU Teams!
I do believe Coach Hopkins and Joe Fletcher had one Ironton team and Schweickart had a separate team. I am not exactly sure how many tournaments Hoppy's team entered last year but my understanding was Schweickart's played in several. Columbus a couple times, Cincinnati, Dayton, Beckley, etc. They ha...

Re: Ironton vs West 8th grade
I actually thought we might have a good game when they scored that first TD. Just as we thought with Wheelersburg. It was a known fact that when those two Biddy league teams joined forces that they would be awesome! Kudos to the Biddy League Coaches!!!!

Re: Ironton 8th grade
Thanks for posting the 7th grade picture from last year! It is fun to see how much they have all grown. The biggest kid in the back row #73 -Culbertson looks like he was maybe able to drive his car to get that picture made. I heard his mom gets questions all the time about his age so she carries his...

I am going to guess that Ironton will beat Gallipolis and earn that title!

Re: Ironton 8th grade
I have enjoyed reading all the posts on this topic and I am amazed at how Ironton always seems to be the team that is singled out for cheating! Can it not be possible that they actually do have a really good group of talent for thier age/grades? They have rules to follow and I am sure none were brok...
