2015 Hocking Hills Cross Country Camp
Top o’ the Caves Campground
Hocking Hills State Park, Logan Ohio

July 23-26

The 6th annual Hocking Hills Cross Country camp will be held July 23rd to 26th at the Top O’ the Caves Campground in Hocking Hills State Park. There will be a meeting in the Fairland High School Cafeteria on June 4th at 6:00PM for all parents and athletes who wish to attend the camp. The cost of the camp will be $85.00 per athlete and checks may be made payable to Fairland Athletic Boosters.

Overview: The athletes will leave for camp on Thursday at 9:00AM from the track at Fairland High School. The drive to the campground is approximately 2 hours. The athletes will stay overnight in their own tents on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday of and return home Sunday around 2:00PM.

Supervision: We will have 1 coach/supervisor for every 10 athletes at the camp. As in previous years, the coaching staff encourages all parents to attend (food/drink included). We ask parents to pay for a campsite if they choose to attend. We don’t expect any parent who attends the camp to take part in the running that we do (unless they want to try). We just need help with food preparation and camp management.

Meals: We will provide each athlete with lunch and dinner on the 18, breakfast lunch, and dinner on the 18, 19 and breakfast on the 20. The meals usually consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, ham, turkey, peanut butter, jelly, chips, fruit, water, PowerAde, Gatorade, assorted snacks, eggs, biscuits, sausage, and treats. Please let us know if there are any food allergies or restrictions

Activities: Your child will be running 2-3 times per day. Each day between the runs the athletes will have the opportunity to swim, fish, hike, play ball, and REST. To fish, the athlete must bring their own poles and equipment.

What to bring: Tent, plenty of clothes (socks especially), shoes, sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towels, case of water or Gatorade. IF YOU PLAN TO BRING SNACKS AND KEEP THEM IN THE TENT, YOU MUST BRING A SEALED CONTAINER (TUPPERWARE/ETC) TO STORE IT IN or THE SKUNKS AND RACCOONS AT THE SITE WILL GET IN THE TENT WITH YOU.

Questions or Concerns: Please feel free to contact Coach Wentz or Coach Alt anytime before camp with any questions regarding the trip or if you are a parent who would like to attend camp.
