CC courses

Post by noreply66 »

How many schools run CC away from their football or Track location :?:
Seems like too many are ran with taking in the football or track area, resulting in too many quick times because of flat courses. Logan was running at the HS area but heard it is up behind the MS now taking in the wooded area :?: :?: :?: :?:

Trimble runs at Burr Oak lake. No major hills but many small ones. All in fields.

Fairland course is at old lock 27 where our bus garage and BOE is located. We have a course that has a few small hills, runs along the Ohio river around horse stables and through the woods. Lap and one half course twice through woods. The River provides a great background for the finish, once had the Delta Queen going by during a race.

Meigs' course is a real cross country course. It's through the woods with plenty of hills to pick out the runners who don't train.

A couple years ago I had a coach tell me that the course at Meigs was one of the best in SEO. It sounds like what a CC course should be like.

Marietta runs at the Broughton Nature Area. True cross country course, many hills. Tough early in the season with the heat. More and more teams it seems want to run at flat courses to get better individual times on their resume.

It is cross country and should be ran cross country. All these flat courses take the word cross out of it. I can see the race starting on a straight stretch and ending that way but everything in between needs to be ruff. Hills, valleys, water, jumps. Plus the course need to be the correct distance.

It went really well...other than being hotter than a blue blaze!! LOl Coaches McFann & Miller were very pleased with the turnout and the with the community involvement. They are already getting interest from more schools for next year's meet and they look forward to making this an annual event...It's a course that will test a runner's mettle...
