In the deeper south I will say Ironton if they beat the southern teams at their own Invite.
Logan should have the over all best team in the southeast.

If Athens was in the SEOAL they would finish behind-5 teams

Last year they would have finished 6th and the girls would have finished 4th

Athens has a lot of really good kids coming back this year. I look for them to be up there with Logan as one of the top 3 teams in SEO.

By the way ATHENS is no longer in the SEOAL get over it.
I am sick of hearing where they would finish if they were still in the SEOAL.

stop talking smack. They changed their league not because of the track and field/ cross country programs. This year their distance and relay teams will beat any SEOAL team. If Athens would be in SEOAL during last Cross Country season they would win the league as well.

I dont know about the rest of the Athens girl's team but from what I have seen I do know one thing Anna Pomento would be one of the top throwers shot and discus in the SEOAL this year if Athens were still in the league.

Actually, after Athens won the first meet of last xc season, Warren finished ahead of them every time they faced off. It would have been close, but it seemed Warren had the upper hand.

JoeRoberts, that's true athens had some bad races this year but lets talk about the regionals. How many people did each team send to the regionals and let's also look at overall personal bests of each runner. Do you get the point ?

If you would put Athens,Logan and Marietta on the track together on a 6-4-3-2-1 points system I would put the score in the area as this.

Athens..........71
Logan...........121
Marietta..........81

Athens and Warren will be meeting at Nelsonville so this should be a good one

I think a case can be made either way, they were both good, they were evenly matched. But to say Athens would have won is no more valid than to say Warren would have won.

Athens sent 2 to regionals, Warren sent one. But the district race that Warren was in also had the higher seeded teams. As far as PR's go, almost impossible to tell, given the differences in courses that the teams race on. At districts Warren ran in the last race, right after the sleet and rain and wind picked up, and ran within 6 seconds (team average). So, all in all, in head to head competition, Warren held a 2 to 1 advantage, and at districts I'll give that Athens ran a faster team average, but only by 6 seconds but in better conditions. I'll give that one to you but at the same time you have allow that the course conditions made a difference. My point is, they were pretty even, and Warren held the head to head advantage, so going back to your original statement that Athens would have won the SEOAL, that is debatable and not supported. As far as PR's, Warren had 17:15, 17:30, 17:50, 17:55, 17:56. In most of the results I have seen, Athens had 2 in the 17:00-17:30 range, but then the rest were over 18:00...

Let's just call it even and not get all heated over this. I'm not going to get into arguing or demeaning another team.

Coal Grove's boys won the division III meet at Oak Hill last year, they return most of their team. Wheelersburg's boys have dropped to DIII this year and they have most of their team back. So it should be interesting.

4 back from 4x100
4 back from 4x400
top 1600 runner
top long jumper
top pole vaulter
110/300 2 of the top four
top 2 in the 100/200
2 of the top 6 in the 400
