Re: Why doesn't track have 4 divisions?
It just has to do with the way the OHSAA splits up the divisions. There probably won't ever be 4 divisions even though 3 division is completely unfair for the tiny schools. Very similar to tennis which only has 2 divisions. The way they do things in the OHSAA is very confusing.
Re: Why doesn't track have 4 divisions?
In the bottom 2 divisions the most that the smallest school and the largest school can be only 160 kids. The small division 1 schools are have some crazy differences Chillicothe has a number of 345 girls and mason high school has 1200 girls in the bottom 3 grades in high school.
it would be nice if they did what football did and had a super division. the top 64 schools by size. create 4 regionals and then they could go to the state meet.

Re: Why doesn't track have 4 divisions?
i think once track hits 750 teams is when they get 4 divisions
Re: Why doesn't track have 4 divisions?
The key word there is teams. Most schools have kids that do track, the problem is they don't have enough kids to make it an official "team" to the OHSAA. I believe the number the OHSAA put out to make it a team is 9. Correct me on that if I'm wrong.goUK wrote:i think once track hits 750 teams is when they get 4 divisions

Re: Why doesn't track have 4 divisions?
The number of 9 is correct about constituting a team; however, only two good athletes is all it takes to win a state TEAM championship. Think about that one for a while.
We will not see 4 divisions for track and field because of time constraints - at this time it takes two very full days to complete the state meet and adding another day will just flat out cost too much. Of course i am old, but I am convinced we will not see 4 divisions while I am alive.

Not arguing semantics but if two athletes can compile enough points to win a state team championship they are closer to incredible than good.Flatulence wrote:Ironman, okay, what do you want me to say, OUTSTANDING?
Sorry for being a pick ass even though I knew what you meant.
