With Gaiters leg injury a few weeks back, and with him not (Q) in the 100 meters it looks like it may be still bothering him.
Oldest record is the Triple Jump--Jimmy Morris from Ironton--1982---44' 2-1/2"--25 years
His son Lukas is now competing in the long jump and just beat Brian Gaiters from Zainesville to win the SEOAL meet. I look for Lukas to do great things next year as a senior.

Congrats Luke

I look for the High Jump record to get topped again this seaeson. Should be a good matchup between Westbrook of Marietta and Lukas Morris of Ironton.

Morris cleared 6'11 at the University of Kentucky track camp earlier in the summer.

Has Lukas been talking to Kentucky about going there?

Morris shines at UK track camp
By Jim Walker/Tribune Sports Editor

Saturday, July 19, 2008 11:06 PM EDT
One good look deserved a closer look.

University of Kentucky coach James Thomas saw Ironton’s Lukas Morris in early June at the Ohio Division II state track meet.

Morris tied his school record with a jump of 6-8 to finish second in the state.

Thomas got a closer look when Morris participated in the UK track camp July 13-16 and gave an even better performance.

Competing in the camp meet held on the final day, Morris cleared 6-11 to win the high jump event. He also won the 200-meter dash at 23.4 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 20-10.5.

“I high jumped first, so my legs were a little tired,” said Morris. “I did three events during the regular season, so it didn’t bother me. I was a little out of shape.”

Ironton track coach Greg Cronacher told Morris the Kentucky coach was impressed with his effort at the state meet, prompting Morris to attend the UK camp.

“Coach Cronacher said he saw me at the state meet and that he was interested in me,” said Morris.

Morris was also a wide receiver for the Fighting Tigers football team and forward on the basketball team.

You have the 200 record going to River Valley up top not Point Pleasant, as I remember, Brown was from River Valley wasn't he. Great job on all of your work!!

There is a noticeable absence of Portsmouth on the record book. I no it is due to our short time in the league. Here are our school records that were set prior to joining the league.

100 Hamrick 10.6
200 Hamrick 21.7
4x100 Booker Malone Robinson Brown 42.71
4x400 Parker Hamrick Booker Robinson 3:21.37
Long Jump 22.10

I know these don't count since we had not yet joined the league, just thought it was interesting stuff.
