LONG WALK TO SHOT PUT AND DISCUS AREA THOUGH it is now located out by the softball fields but not sure how the handicapped is suppose to get out there
but the track is heaven to walk on! Tried it out last night for the first time while the boy was practicing running

That race will be a classic-I think the lead changed three or four times Wilson took the lead on the final back stretch and Cantley caught him with about sixty yards to go and Wilson tried to get it back with about twenty-yards to go but just couldn't do it.
Best 3200 I have watched.

Mr. Cantley sets new school record - 3200 - this will be shortlived as Mr. Wilson has some big two-mile races yet to run this year.
Very proud of both of those young men. They bring it every night - practice or meet - without question the heart and soul of this very talented track team.
Nick ran a 61 last lap and Tyler ran a 60 - that, folks, is finishing a race.
Very nice facility - there in Nelsonville.

So, they ran those times after finishing 1-2 in the mile, and after running in the 4X800 as well?!
Sheesh.
Congrats to Warren! By the look of the results it is clear that they wanted to make a statement against Logan (fine performance by the Logan teams as well). I'll bet it was a great atmosphere last night.

fan - not taking anything away from Logan, as I am sure they did not show their entire hand - Warren had some kids shuffled some thru different events.
The coaches are developing some very talented runners, thrower, jumpers etc, - lots of fairly interchangeable pieces. The coaches have also done a good job of keeping kids hungry - there is a lot of healty competition within the team itself - and that's a great thing to have.
This could be a real special year for Warren's boys track team. Lots of work to do first!
Also - watch out for Andrew Wunderlich - the kid is electric. Riffey will not be able to hide him much longer. LOL

Re: Nelson/York Meet 04/15/08
Although I didn't see the 3200 race, I can still say it will probably one of the best races this year.
The only race I could think that is even close to being that good is a district race two years ago, that I happened to run in. The winner went 9:54.00 and 2nd place was 9:54.40. So 4 tenth of a second different.
The Cantley and Wilson race was 12 seconds faster than that and only 2 tenth a of a second difference.

Wunderlich hasn't been hiding.
He sort of came from nowhere last year and did a great job for Warren. It still looks like Dunfee hasn't come back to his first year at the varsity level. He really shined as a freshman.
Logan is young and they are really hanging in there with all their youth.

warren did a good job last night, but the race of the day was that 3200. it was the best one i have ever seen.

Dunfee is "shining" okay. He ran a 11.4 hand-timed 100M at Belpre saturday, and a 23.87 F.A.T. 200M at NY last night. He also has a couple of sub-11 4x1 splits. He had a lower-body muscle injury last season, but his times are solidly on par with his performance as a freshman now.
Obviously a class facility at NY, and a very well-conducted meet. (The food was Great!)

Re: Nelson/York Meet 04/15/08
This is NOT, I repeat NOT, in any way critical of anything . . . I love wrestling, and coach Schetter, etc., etc. . . .
However, I wonder if Andrew's wrestling has an adverse impact on his sprinting. It seems like most sprinters are pretty well muscled and he has to watch/lose weight for wrestling and doesn't really get to lift during that time. It seems like he has to make-up ground after wrestling season.
I know many sprinters combine football and track at the collegiate level. I wonder how compatible wrestling and track are?
Having asked the question I am in no way advocating that Andrew stop doing what he is doing. He's in it for the joy of it, not to be a D1 athlete. Besides, his 4.0 GPA will take him wherever he wants to go.

Your right. Gaining and losing wait like kids do is not good for running.
Re: Nelson/York Meet 04/15/08
warrnwarriorfan,
I've studied the body types of sprinters for over 10 years, and have concluded that there is no ideal prototype. It's not like evaluating race horses, they come in all shapes and sizes with no rhyme or reason whatsoever.
As for losing muscle mass, Andrew Wunderlich is tall and quite lean, and I'm sure gets written-off occasionally at pre-race check-in by some competitors that don't know him, then proceeds to eliminate them with jaw-dropping speed.
Dunfee is well-muscled, but lean, and well conditioned for speed-work thanks to wrestling season. I'm a weightlifting advocate for all sports, but not all sprinters respond with faster times. I think it mostly helps with muscle endurance in the long sprints, reducing lactic acid buildup and finishing-speed -killing fatigue. I do tend to favor long striders somewhat, as they seem better able to stretch it out and maintain sprinting speed in the 200 and 400M, but there are plenty of exceptions.
Look at Warren's top 4 sprinters (Dunfee, Hennen, Starner, Wunderlich) and you will see 4 radically different body types. I think any winter sport or activity that involves alot of running is great. A sprinter who does little or no winter training will be off to a slow start come meet season. (I'd better stop right here)
I still say Dunfee is in great shape and on the whole, running faster times per meet thus far than during his freshman season.

Didn't Dunfee set the 100m record for Warren when he was a freshman at 11.2. I even think he ran some 11.4s.As a freshman he won the league 200 with a 23.5 and ran a 11.5 100m at the league.
He may have ran a 11.0 at Morgan for the school record.

Score Wheelersburg and Warren overall I think it would be close and fun to see in a quad meet, But some on here does'nt think running track is for everyone
