I have made my final picks for the top 14 teams going into the 2015 season

I will do a running score by each event that will show my number one pick

4x800

Washington Court House [1] takes the first event.

100 hurdles goes to Chillicothe [1] with Logan picking up two places to lead after 2 events with 14 points

100 meters goes to Chillicothe [2] and take the lead after 3 events

Wash. C. H. [2] wins 4x200 for their 2nd winning relay WCH takes over 1st place with 28 points

Zane Trace [1] wins the 1600 and also gets a 8th place finish for a total of 11 points.....WCH holds on to first with a 2nd place finish

The discus goes to Athens [1] and with their 6th place finish they pick up 13 points...Logan also picked up two places for 13 points Zane Trace finished 3rd and 7th to get 8 points...WCH did not place but still holds a 6 point lead over Athens, Chillicothe and Logan

Wash. C. H. [3] wins their third relay to move out to a ten point lead over Chillicothe who came in third. With 8 events to go WCH has 46 points

Eastern R [1] wins the 400--WCH picks up 2nd and 3rd for 14 points to increase their lead to 23 over 2nd place Chillicothe

Eastern R [2] wins the high jump for their 2nd 1st place. Logan and Zane Trace place 2 in the event. Athens picked up 6 points to take over 2nd place 18 points behind WCH.

Gallipolis [1] win the 300 hurdles...Logan takes third for 6 points and moves into 2nd place 12.5 points behind WCH.Logan has placed in 9 of the ten events so far.

Wash. C. H. [4] wins the 800 plus picks up 2 more points for 7th place. WCH increases it lead to 17.5 points over Logan which picked up 7 points with 5th and 6th places. Is WCH back on track now after two events with no points

Logan [1] wins the PV plus gets 3rd place for 16 points ...Fairland also place two for 6 points...Logan moves within 1.5 points of WCh with 5 events to go

Zane Trace [2] wins the 200 meters....WCH takes 2nd place to extend their lead over Logan by 3.5...Eastern R takes 6th and 8th

The long jump goes to Chillicothe [3]. The Cavs pick up 5th place too for 14 points...Logan picks up 2nd and 3rd for 14 points . Also South Point takes 6th and 7th for 5 points. Logan's 14 points puts them into 1st as WCH fails to place in the Long Jump

Gallipolis [1]wins the 3200... Eastern R picks up 12 points with a 2nd and 5th place ..Athens gets 4 points with a 6th and 8th finish...with Logan's 3rd place finish they take a 16.5 point lead over WCH

Logan [2] wins their second event plus they pick up the 5th place points for 15 total...Athens picks up the 2nd and 7th place for 10 points and Gallipolis gets 4 points for 6th and 8th place. Logan increases it lead to 30.50 over WCH.Athens and Chillicothe are in a dog fight for third. Looks like the 4x400 will decide what team will get 3rd place

4x400 goes to WCH [5] giving them winners in all the relays...I have Logan winning with WCH second and Chillicothe edging out Athens for 3rd..Washington C.H. started out strong but the field events did them in. I didn't see them scoring in any of them. Hurdles also hurt them.

Interesting. Do you include 9th graders in your speculations?

I didn't think you did but Washington has a few decent Freshman coming in if they still decide to compete. You never know.

Here is a link to our MS Invitational. We have 8th graders in 1600, PV, 200,100. that may contribute this year.

Why is Unioto not included? They are very good and I believe they return a good bit? They also have a strong fr class.

Here is how I picked my top 14 teams

I went to the SHAC and picked what I thought would be the two best ,[ i did this for each league] and put them up against the OVC. Two top teams advanced to go up against the SOC 2 best. The two best advance to go against the SVC,those winners went up against the SCOL then those winners went up against the SEOAL and then the two best went up against the TVC. It comes down to what I thought would be the best two of each of these seven leagues. After this I put all 14 teams up against each other as one meet. When this is finished I will go back and pick what I think is the 3rd and 4th best and and they will go against these 14 to get my final top teams.

When doing this as a relay event with 3 allowed to an event it really comes out a lot different.

Some teams not on my list might have girls going to the state but i feel as a whole their team wouldn't make my list.

Example: Chesapeake has a girl that could score some big points but as a team going head to head and what I have on them they wouldn't beat Eastern S . Now come the regional Chesapeake would get more point only because of the one or two girls.

Have gone over the teams in each of the seven leagues that I think would get 3rd or 4th.

These five teams Chesapeake, Hillsboro, Piketon, Unioto,Wheelersburg will replace three teams Waverly, Manchester, Valley and I will have my final 16

Have added some freshman and a couple teams had transfers...in and out from when I started my regional 14

Final 16

16.SCOL.....Hillsboro

15. OVC.....Chesapeake

14. OVC.....South Point

13. SHAC.....Eastern S

12. OVC.....Fairland

11. SOC.....Wheelersburg

10. SVC.....Piketon

9. SVC.....Adena

8. SEOAL.....Gallipolis

7. TVC.....Eastern R

6. SVC.....Unioto

5. SVC.....Zane Trace

4. SCOL.....Chillicothe

3. TVC.....Athens

2. SCOL.....Wash. C.H.

1. SEOAL.....Logan

A few changes on the standings....with adding what I think is 3rd and 4th place team from each league---some of their results knock some higher teams out of lower finishes which took points from teams.

In the interest of promoting a discussion here, your hypothetical will have a real test of Logan v. Athens in Rocky Boots, Mingo Relays and the District. Who you got? I have the Bulldogs!

Do not Know about the other teams but Logan had a few top girls that didn't take part in this meet. Eastern really shocked me Saturday...they could have won this meet.

I would be very cautious of the data from the Logan meet on 04/15. In the girls 100 m the runners were clearly misclassified. Moreover, I don't think any of them went under 13, and the data suggests there were three. There were also some issues in the girls 400 which makes me question some of the other times. Don't know if any others had the same or similar observations.

I have come across this a few times this year. One meet had the winner going 10.00 in the girls one hundred and it was very clear she was far from the fastest. Winning time was more like 13.00..

A couple distance time were off too. If I'm taking my time entering results i will catch them. [most of the time]

I see the revised data for the Logan meet at least has the order of participants correct in the events. Not sure about the times, but not too far off.

What others were off other than the 100 meters?

I don't know the precise times, but I know in the girls 400 m there was clearly more than a .1 difference between first and second place. In the 4 X 4 the difference between winning time and second place was more like one second than four. Perhaps the coaches would have better times. As I said in an earlier post, at least the order of finishers was corrected in the 100 m.
