Athens Wrestlers to State

[Bulldog Mom]

Three wrestlers from Athens will be representing the Bulldogs at The State Tournament.
Josh Dingess-placed 2nd
John Lazear-placed 4th
Joey Young-placed 3rd

These are three very wonderful young men and obviously great wrestlers. Congratulations to these very deserving wrestlers and to the wonderful COACH KAISER!!!

What about State Champ Drew Carpenter from Sheridan. I know what you are going to say about location, but they are in the Southeast Sectional and recognized by the SEOWCA.

Oops. For got about Sheridan getting their first State Champ. Mr. Carpenter makes him Number #4, in Southeast wrestling history. 1st two were Matt Yinger (Nelsonville-York) & Heath Eddleblutte (Warren) in 89', Matt McCoy (Warren) 90' and now Carpenter (Sheridan) 10'. It has been a long dry spell. So I must bow the the man from Sheridan. Carpenter, then Young, both deserving young men and a pleasure to watch on the mat. Thanks Schenk11.

Don't forget Eric Chevalier from Belpre. State champ in '96. Belpre has had two Runner ups as well. Coach Scott Adams and Scott Gilbert. Gilbert lost 9-8 in 1995, but Adams unfortunately got Mark Zimmer (4-time state champ).

Mitch Landers from Caldwell was a state Champ as well.
