Again as the Coach of Thomas Mclaughlin they have never wrestled in High School maybe in the summer years ago and it would be at least 2. I will say this Thomas has the up most respect for David and has said he is very very tough. I don't think anybody on here bashed the young Jeffrey if you think I did show me where. Jeffrey is very very good he beat a very good Jeremy Border ealier this year that speaks for itself. I just watched the link. Wow great job by Southeast Ohio it looked like my Nelsonville-York kids did well. I hope we can all come to terms and make this a great event each year. Again I did not attempt to bash anybody. And for the last time Mclaughlin and Jeffrey have NEVER wreslted in High School at least 2 years if they did it was in maybe 8th grade and certainly not 3 times I have been around Thomas since birth yes birth.

I also want to commened coach Jeffrey I have no hard feelings towards him or David. He does take him to Jordan's and Burnetts and that is why David is one of the best. I like that family so don't say I am bashing anybody. Just stating the facts. If you get to know me you will see my pashion for this sport and people who love it like coach Jefferies a great guy for the sport.

This was a great event to be apart of, and all of these wrestlers should be proud to have been involved. Having served my country for ten years, I think that this is a great thing. What we ALL need to realize is if this turns into a state vs state war of words, then we are taking away from the real reason for doing this, I can understand a little friendly compitition between states, but lets keep it civil. I would like to say congradulations to ALL the wrestlers that were involved. There were some great matches.

To be clear, this event was supposed to be for fun and a fundraiser. The facts are this, Dave Jeffrey did not do the line up. And while David could have wrestled McLaughlin, Bryce Gainer then would not have had a match. Well, I suppose he could have wrestled a FEW weight classes up but those in charge thought it best and most fair to pair the kids up by lightest to heaviest. I don't think we were aware that this was supposed to be sort of showdown between David and McLaughlin.
And Tric118, I don't believe I called you out personally at all. I do think we can all agree that Jim Packard's statement that my brother ran from someone just like last year was a dig.

Most on this fourm are not bashing David, just really wanted to see the match between McLaughlin and Jeffrey. It seem that the father did not what this to happen. I don't doubt for a sec. that David (along with all the wrestler's involed) works very hard year around.

I agree with the big one, no poster on this site has the right to name or attempt to name other posters. Example(eagle 10 was removed from this site for attempting to put a name with screaming eagle 54). What's fair for one should be fair for all.

This has gone on long enough. I never said that David Jeffery wasn't a fine young man, hard worker dedicated to his sport. He has demonstrated this over and over on and off the mat. He is a two time state champion, a high school all American, and deservedly so. In all probability he will end up being a 4 time state champ.

This event is a good thing, for a good cause, and took a lot of time and hard work for the organizers, and they should be commended for their efforts.

Last year at this event the fans where I was sitting were upset (me included) because we had been informed that the match we all were looking forward to wasn't going to happen. The reason we were told was that Mr. Jefferys didn't want David to wrestle Tyler Reed because of a weight discrepancy. (before the start of the event the organizers stated that the wrestlers wouldn't have to make weight as long they were within 15lbs.

The following morning along with the results on wvmat were comments like " Southeast Oh the armpit of wrestling "Wash. Co wrestling was an embarrassment to the sport" etc. Those comments were pretty upsetting to me, and apparently to the moderator, because they finally removed them from the site.

This year same thing, I was told that a much anticipated match wasn't going to happen for the reasons stated above.

With all this said, regardless of why the matches didn't take place, was none of my business, and I shouldn't have mentioned David Jefferys name in a negative way. I apologize to David Jefferys and his family and all the readers on this site.

Hmmmm... I certainly did not see any of these people get on WVmat last year and rip the people making fun of the Ohio wrestlers. Let me ask, if the Ohio wrestlers were ask to "wrestle up" why was a WV kid not allowed to?

Reed wrestled 119 and 125 this year and wrestled 130 there... daniel rhor wrestled 145 this year and wrestled 160 there... chris mcdermitt wrestled 145 this year and wrestled 171 there... so why could jeffreys not wrestle up?

Apparently, someone wanted to make sure he had the best chance to win??? Only answer I can come up with.

The one thing I noticed was how young everyone was, on both sides (9th and 10th). Man wrestling should be fun to watch on both sides of the river, over the next few years!

I have to ask, why was Rohr in this event? He did not finish the season and Miegs had a district qualifier, was he askes. THe reason for this event is a wondeful reason and for the great cause for valiant young men and women. But ...... this is an event to showcase both sides of the river and should be representative of the finest both on and off the mat. Not a shot here just curious. The guy that organized this event is to be commended for his efforts and everyone involved as well. It raises awareness and funds for these soldiers. He and all the organizers deserve a HOOOORAH...

Rohr did a great job. He represented Washington county when others turn down the chance to wrestle for this team.

That is all well and good. But was the Meigs Kid asked? He was close enough miles wise. I am in hopes that all the local kids were asked and turned down the opportunity.

I guess maybe I need to rephrase my question. Why would you ask a Washington County kid that got in major trouble at school and then did not have the grades to finish the season, to participate in a event that is a reward for your preformance for the year? Ability on the mat and in the classroom (which in the big picture is the most important) and at school needs, no must be used. Otherwise it shows that ethically the event and the purpose of the event has been cheapened and tarnished. Just my humble opinion. There is a right way and a wrong way of doing things and in this case, the message being sent is the wrong message. the message should have been: Do things the right way and you earn your reward. Instead it seems that the message is don't let anything get in the way of winning and this is at a honorable event. So Sad.
