Athens has made leaps and bounds with Coach Kiser. Have saw Athens, Warren, Marietta. The Bulldogs are very aggressive on the mat and their technique is greatly improved. Looks like they should be considered one of the front runners for SEOAL.

I think Athens has to be the favorite. All the other teams have some individual studs, however Athens has a team. They have had some very good showings thus far this year, including last weekend at Meadowbrook. Some very stiff competition and they held their own. Can someone please give a lineup for Athens with records if availble?

ive seen athens this year and am not amazed by them... at new albany they placed high because they placed most of their wrestlers in the "B" pool... if they wanted the "stiff" competition they shouldve put the majority of their team in the "A" pool... im not trying to be biased but i think logan has the most well rounded team in the seoal this year...

Meadowbrook is very good tournament with very "stiff" competition and Athens had a good showing there, that tells me a lot. I haven't seen Logan or Athens wrestle this year so who knows. Warren won the thing last year when they were forfeiting 5 weight classes. Anything can happen.

Right now:
1. Athens
2. Gallia
3. Logan
4. Warren
5. Chilly
6. Marietta

Chillicothe and Athens look to be the favorites right now, with Logan right their also. Chillicothe has a solid group of young wrestlers.
Possible Champions for Chillicothe
103
140
189
215
HWT

Their 152 is also tough and may end up in the finals, but that looks to be a good weight class with
Lee Warren
Frasure Logan
Cambell Chillicothe
Athens

chillicothe has several kids that should win the league
103 tyler perry.. very good frosh
112 lost to stepp last week, but had 4 takedowns.. not better than stepp, but should see him in the finals
140 nick detty.. three losses on the yr... won two at district two yrs ago (pinned and tech falled carnes)
1 point to zolman of northmor(state placer) although detty was in on a double late in the third, had to default do to cut in head(6 staples)
gifford logan elm (state placer), and one point to hackett of hamilton
145 chris sopher... been battling illness for two weeks, but will place three or better
152 campbell...improving every week .. nice second place finish at bishop ready over xmas.. 24 teams there
160/171 brandon whittaker and jai cutter
whittaker won a match at jr. high state last year and cutter is much improved..
189 kyle ramsey sescond in league last year to sebring who he beat last week

215 danny demick league champ last year at 215
285 ansel benson second in league to bokovits last yr... lost by 2 in the finals

im bored.. here are some numbers to look at

athens had the most kids up for seed at league last year.. eleven
athens placed 8

every other team in the league placed more than they had up for seed..

alot is about the competition you wrestle and duals dont mean squat come tourney time...
two puds can wrestle and one can land on top, but they still wont score when a tourney comes around...throw forfeits and bump kids around at a team and win the dual, but many of these kids cant score in a tourney

last year league results
warren won by 30..

team placers
warren 1st=4 2nd =3 3rd =2 4th =0
athens 1st =2 2nd=5 third=1 4th =0
logan 1st =1 2nd =1 third=6 4th=4
marietta 1st =2 2nd =2 3rd=1 4th=4
jackson 1st=3 2nd=1 3rd=1 4th=1
chilli 1st =1 2nd =2 3rd =0 4th =2
gallia 1st=1 2nd=0 3rd =3 4th=2

warren graduated 3 champs and 2 2nds
athens grad. 1 champ and 1 secong
logan grad 1 3rd and 1 4th
marietta grad. 2 4ths
jackson grad. 1 champ
gallia grad. 1 champ
chilli had no seniors

Does athens not wrestle chilli till seoal ? Some of the weight classes you pick for chilli are some of athens best . Athens will wrestle gallia and jackson tues 1-15-08 . That will give them a better ideia of how they will do in seoal. then they will wrestle marietta, warren 1-23-08. I would say athens 171 is the best . he is a sothmore and has only lost 2 matches. I think athens only has 1 senoir on the team that i know of .
