TVC
Re: TVC
Athens, Meigs, and VC should always be the favorite every year.
Why?
They have 3 to 2 times as many boys in the school to come out for wrestling to fill every weight class. Belpre, NY, Waterford, Trimble, and other smaller schools will always be at the disadvantage in numbers. Now I say that meaning normally that this is the case scenerio. In know NY usually gets good turn out. However that is just the way it is and the way it will be. Thus, I would love to see Marietta and Warren in the TVC. Again, that still doesn't help the smaller schools in numbers but more competition for Meigs, VC, and Athens for them not to win in numbers all the time over the smaller schools. Simply more competetion.
It has normally been the case in most quads, tri's, ect that quanity is the determining factor not necessarily quality.
Not tring to start any fussing just simply stating what and how I see it. What does everyone one else think? Is there an easy fix? Or is it simply just deal with it. Belpre did win the TVC last year. Thoughts?
Just another conversation piece.
Bare with my spelling.

Re: TVC
If, interpreting your post correctly, the addition of Warren and Marietta to the league would enable you to have a braket tournament to determine the champion. This would eliminate the need to fill all of the weight classes (to an extent). Quality as opposed to quatity.

Re: TVC
I don't think it would be a suprise...Nelsonville is always tough and has a great wrestling program. Nelsonville's lineup is pretty good this year with some really good freshman and some good returning wrestlers.

Re: TVC
Some of the bigger school's don't necessarily have a big turn-out. I've seen smaller schools missing some weight classes win tournaments, because of quality. Never underestimate the small teams.
It appears that there are quality wrestlers on many of the TVC teams and will make the battle for the title more competitive this year. That's a great thing, because I get tired of hearing people from other parts of the state saying that SE Ohio/TVC is weak. We may be rural and spread-out and not have huge schools, but we have the heart and work ethic like anyone else in the state. I hope to see more of our wrestlers make it to Columbus and standing on the podium that last weekend of the season!

Re: TVC
Just look at Trimble a few years ago. Had 7 or 8 guys and was very competitive. Finished in top 5 almost every tournament they were in. Placed 6th out of 23 at sectionals and 23rd out of 74 teams at districts.
103. Corey Morgen 29-11, 2nd at sectionals, 5 at districts
119. Corey Smathers
145. Joe Dixon
160. Ryan Ratliff 31-9, 4th at sectionals, 0-2 at districts
171. Jeremiah Borgen
189. Brandon Webster 40-6, 2nd at sectionals, 5th at districts
215. Tony Miller
275. Josh Dixon 28-12, 1st at sectionals, 2-2 at districts

And i remember head to head Trimble kicked Athens butt on the mat, just lost the dual do to no having all the weight classes filled. Man those were the good old days....3 years fly by fast..Thing i miss the most was old coach beating me up

Re: TVC
mom,
Unfortunately, most regular season tournaments are not bracketed. Not having all the weight classes filled doesn't give a team much of a chance when comes to the team score.

Re: TVC
cms...Very true, but a lot of the tournaments we attended during season were bracketed, which did help the small schools. Our JH team didn't fill all the weight classes and would win tournaments, because of their quality. We now have those boys on our HS team this year.
Be nice to see the TVC grow so much that it would get to that point. It's nice to dream! lol!

Cat Here is the Sectionals you were talking about definetly the good old days. Only 14 teams in the Sectional.
And then at the bottom are the Districts results. I never thought I would coach a team that would do so well at a District. Coach Mcglaughlin had the Trimble boys believing.

Hope to see alot more TVC kids at OU this Sunday. Open Gym Training with college coaches and wrestlers. Only $2. Great oppurtunity to get a great workout and pick up more knowledge and skills.
Re: TVC
otterslide you are correct wrestlers such as Ashton Packard Belpre, Alex Minnard Fairfield Union, Zack Hook Nelsonville-York and Weston Davis Zane Trace was just a few good wrestlers with Packard and Minnard being the cream of the crop. If I was a 160, 171 or 189 I would love to drill with somone like Ashton and then the 112, 119 and 125 can work with Alex. The difference will show up in March.

Re: TVC
Tric no doubt there is nothing but positive that can come out of this great offering from OU. We all work for common goals. Have the kids reach state and to be able to move onto the next level (College). With the TVC and the great coaches that are in that conference you can see it is about their respected schools but you can see the coaches are looking for these kids to go further when their high school days are done. That is one common goal I can see with at least Waterford, Belpre, and NY and a few others within the TVC.
I know for my son it is good to work with Thomas and others. There is just so much positive to be able to work out with others and learn from them as well. We can all learn so much form each other and our respected programs.
I think we all want to have the TVC be a factor at all state events. We want to make a name for ourselves to others to know the TVC has the ability to be the best.

Re: TVC
I am very suprised to see so many guys out for us this year. Hopefully, we can keep them out and shake up the TVC in the team rankings! There is a lot of potential and I expect a lot to come out of the new guys. It looks like a good year is ahead.

after seeing us at the trimble/alex scrimage and practice tonight and we had 22 kids which is awsome we are going to be a contender at almost every meet. Post your thoughts of how the tvc will turn out.
