DIV II SEC AT ATHENS

Results should be pretty up to date. not a lot of info on fairfield union. i just got jacksons weekend results so there not in here yet. fairland had weekend off. this week if i have time will add what head to head results i have. any true predictions will have to weight until after seeds come out with all the weight class switches and wrestlers not wrestling.

TEAM RESULTS

1. SHERIDAN: certainly looked like the real deal yesterday it will be a load of work for someone to beat them out.
2. ATHENS: very deep team right there with sheridan
3. NEW LEXINGTON: just a step behind first two
4.GALLIA ACADEMY: even with new lexington, if they want to battle for team title need more then 7 wrestlers to score points.
5. VINTON COUNTY: seems to be taking a step backward. maybe it is just all the weight class changes, but they still have 3 weeks to get it turned around.
6.FAIRFIELD UNION: there my dark horse because i don't know a lot about them but this is about where team should finish
7. WARREN: not a great weekend for them
8. MARIETTA: if brown and all those other wrestlers are done for year 8th might be a little high for them.
9. FAIRLAND: weird week for them i now have them moving more wrestlers out of sectionals but scoring less points
10 CHILLICOTHIE: if that was there whole team at miami trace they are 11th and done but i think they have more then that.
11 JACKSON: actually looking a little better but your only going to do so much with 6 wrestlers.



YOU CAN CERTAINLY TELL FEBRUARY IS ALMOST HERE. A LOT OF WRESTLERS DID NOT WRESTLE YESTERDAY. AND I ASKED A LOT OF PEOPLE WHY SO AND SO WAS NOT WRESTLING REALLY I DIDN'T BELIEVE ANY ANSWER I GOT. I HEARD OF KIDS NOT MAKING GRADES TO NOT MAKING WEIGHT, TO HE IS RESTING UP FOR LEAGUES AND SECTIONALS. TO HE IS INJURED AND OUT FOR SEASON. AND MY FAVORITE ONE WAS THESE WERE ALL THE KIDS THAT MADE THE BUS.

sum of the answers were probably true but i also asked about all the weight dropping this week. some people said there kid would be there rest of season other coaches told me we just wanted to certify him there to keep our options open.

Love the breakdown just to get some discussion started.

It is still a bit early to tell about many of these teams because of the difference in front vs. back loaded schedules. Gallia Academy has only had one tri meet and teams like Fairfield Union and Warren have their wrestlers with double digit matches already. We'll know a lot more by the first of the year.

The other thing is that many wrestlers are still trying to make weight. I would expect Guisinger from Gallia (HWT) to have a good year in addition to the names you listed for the Blue Devils, but he had to drop over 30 lbs. since football ended and can't make weight for another couple weeks. Gallia also has several other quality wrestlers bunched up in weight and they'll look much better as a team later in the year as they get spread out.

Enjoyed watching Gallia wrestlers at jason eades tourney this weekend. Taylor, tacket and shoemaker looked great. Byus, warren, allen, and tawney looked really good. Need to get Ben bush going i am sure he will be fine as season progresses. Hard weekend on my boy (waugh) but that will happen to freshmen sometimes. He says he learned a lot this weekend. finally getting over fear of re injuring collar bone and said by last match he finally could breath on the mat instead of being so nervous over wrestling high school over junior high. I'm sure most of the boys looking forward to getting to add the 2 lbs for next match after Christmas.
