winfield bowed out down to 10 gallia is good but so is wellston and point is a very good team I'd say those will be the big 3 tomorrow wrestling starts at 10 good luck every one

Pt. Pleasant's Big Blacks finished strong Saturday evening to capture the 2008 Gallipolis Invitational Wrestling Tournament held in the GAHS gym.


The West Virginians also inflicted the first loss of the season on Gallia Academy's Blue Devils, winning the 10-team event with 147 points.

Gallipolis finished second with 98 points.

Finishing third was Wellston with 82 points, St. Albans was fourth with 52, River Valley fifth with 27, Fairland sixth with 21, Jackson seventh with 14, Wahama eighth with 11, Meigs ninth with 10 and Chesapeake last with no points.

In for or five meets, Gallia Academy is now 25-1 on the season.

Vinton County and Winfield backed out of the event prior to the matches Saturday.

The boys actually set the gym up after the basketball game the night before but were still there till around 10 then back in early the next morning. the wrestling parents are super when it comes to a tourney this size with consessions and the hospitality room the boys and parents even helped make sure everything was cleaned up afterwards.Great group effort by everyone This group of boys are great kids and young men you will hear more from them as the season goes on I am sure.
