Washington C.H. Wrestling Preview Results

Post by wch125 »

Washington C.H. hosted a preview match yesterday, with teams from the Southeast attending Athens, Galia, and Westall. Both High SChool and Junior High competed.

The high school side

AthensThe defending Southeast Div.2 Sectional Champ I would say is the team to beat around the Southeast. Looked very tough from Lighter weights all the way to HWT. Once all there kids are at there weight class they will be very tough, most impressed with Young and Lazear both looked very good, Jackson 103, 112 and the freshman 152 looks tough.

WestfallThis team will suprise many this year I am going to pick them to win the Southeast Div.3 Sectional. They have a full-line up and from 130 till 171 some pretty good kids. They also have a good 215 and HWT. Very solid, Kids that stood out,
130 Dez Hauber, 140 , 145 Vince Pickett, 152 Moore

GaliaHad a few kids out but they looked solid once they get to 152 up through the rest of there weights. Still a young team that continues to get better, Kids looked good 160 Taylor looks tough again this year, 215 Gravely looked tough.

Washington C.H. Still a young team working things out wrestled tough, had some young guys step into the line-up with starters out, and some 1st time varsity wrestlers. Kids that looked solid, 112 Trigg, 140 Klontz, 160 P.Wilson, 171 C.Shaw, 189 S.Shaw, 215, R.Shaw,

Hope anyone that attended enjoyed seeing some good wrestling early on and hope teams come back next year.

Westfall winning the D3 Southeast Sectional? Maybe I agree Picket, Hauber, Bowing and a couple others are very good but Nelsonville-york has 3 returning State qualifiers 2 which placed plus 3 other DQ and add Freshman Zach Mays who was Junior High state placer 2 years ago was not able to compete last year in Junior High state tourney. and the 215 who split with Bowing last year and Throw in Zane Trace who returns everybody other than 1 kid from last years 2nd place team and then add Caldwell who won the Sectional last year and returns a lot. Westfall benefitted big time it will be interesting to see.

I just wanted to get the the suit going tric, you guys will be very tough to beat. but I was impressed with the improvement of Westfall. They will be a tough team I know Zane Trace does return a good bit we see them this weekend at Circleville. Good Luck to you this year.Sounds like the D3 sectional will be a toss-up.

This weekend was a good experience for the Bulldogs, everyone got a match and new guys and parents got to see what a wrestling match was like without spending an entire day in the bleachers. I will have to agree that Westfall was the best team. I was really impressed with them from 130-171. I think there 103 was tough as well, but we caught him on his back in the first, would have been nice to them wrestle a little longer. All the teams there were very good and it will be interesting at the DII sectionals. I have not seen Sheridan or Miami Trace, but I would have to say from what I have seen New Lex would have to be the team to beat this year in DII they are solid from top to bottom with several state level guys!! It is going to be fun, fun, fun!!!!

I say this Westfall did hit the jackpot and got some very good kids. With coach Hammond coaching them they will only get better. There will be a dogfight between 4 or 5 teams knocking each other out to get to the top.
