Not good! But why should they, kids don't show up for practice, and of the ones that do, less than half don't work hard enough to get in shape, our senior leaders couldn't lead a pee-wee team. The coaches have to worry every week about academic eligibility ( the same kids over and over). On the positive side, four of our jr. high kids could start on our varsity team, so maybe next year will be better.

Nothing like being front and forward. But call it like it is as you know I would do the same if it was N-Y. I hate to hear this. Coach Adams is a class act. I am sure he will get them going.

It's not the coaches fault, Coach Adams coaches like he always has; some of the kids are just plain lazy, and don't seem to understand the hard work and dedication it takes to become a successful wrestler.

By the end of the year they will be ready. Leadership will pick up with Carr becoming more of a team mate, with this years team.

Has Carr been out all year? Coach Adams will get them straightened around.

Carr (a much needed addition to our team) came out Dec. 21, had a week of practice before Medina, and placed 8th. If he continues to work hard and gets in wrestling shape he should do well and be a big plus the rest of the season.

"...some of the kids are just plain lazy, and don't seem to understand the hard work and dedication it takes to become a successful wrestler."

Carr placed at Medina (after coming out for the team late and minimal practice time), no one else from the team did. Think that worked on morale any?

"It's not the coaches fault, Coach Adams coaches like he always has; some of the kids are just plain lazy..."

Repeating the same methods over and over again and expecting a different result can be described as insane. I understand he wants to field a team, but you have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to the same kids being late, being lazy, and being a bad example for underclassmen. When peer pressure to perform better is not enough, parenting/coaching needs to step in.

I wish them the greatest of luck, I just feel sorry for the coaches who may feel like they have their hands tied because they need to field a "team".

FWIW, it's nice to see Coach Y. get on here and support Coach A.

You can call me by Coach Yinger and yes I do support Coach Adams a good friend. I would like to see wrestling in Southeast Ohio be the best it can be. We would not have to travel all over the place to get great matches if we could get all the kids to step up. We put the Ohio Univ. Club together but guess what only a handfull of kids show up. N-Y kids and then a few others. Keep after it the rewards will come. We have all been down a time or two.

First of all Congradulation to Carr at Medina.

However, I don't think you can critic all the kids on the team in not doing well. You had several wrestlers face #1 Seeds and other high seeds through out the tournament that were simply better than some of our kids. Some just got a bad draw and was all a upward battle from the get go.

I am hurt by the comments generalized of the team. I am sure some parents are deeply hurt by the comments whether they are true or not. Them being published on a internet forum is not the place. I know most parents are very good parents and do their best and to generalize the entire team into that category is hurtful to several. We all have our faults in life and wish things different but they are what they are and you play the cards you are dealt.

Where in my post did I say "all"? And Where in my post did I critique any one's performance at Medina, except to say that Carr finished 8th.

What I did say was, how can we be ready for this weekend when some of our kids ( the same ones over and over ) don't come to practice, or come without their wrestling equip, or when they do show up give less than a half hearted effort, and our senior leaders up to this point aren't leading anyone. If you think that these things are acceptable and are the norm for successful wrestling, you need to have your feelings hurt. I guess when asked,"Are we going to be ready"? One's responce should be,"Yes, every thing is just peachy".

I mentioned no wrestlers names nor did I criticize any parents, and I owe no apologies for posting the truth.

wow, didn't mean to touch off a powder keg here. i can tell by the emotion of the posts that there are people out there who truly care about the program. i don't think anyone was being pointed out specifically, but in general the team needs to pick up the intensity a bit. this would be a good place for the seniors to step in. as far as guys missing practice, you only get out what you put into it. understand, i don't know the circimstances of all the wrestlers so i cannot comment intelligently on why someone may have missed a practice. as fans, let's just stay positive and supportive. the coaches have done a very good job with a young team overall. good luck tomorrow and this weekend guys. hope the weather doesn't keep us home. keep working hard and good things will come your way.

go eagles!

Well spoken, Eagledad.

Any lineup changes known for this week? Any known wrestlers to watch from Athens or Logan and their respective weight classes?

I was talking about this quote from another poster.
"Carr placed at Medina (after coming out for the team late and minimal practice time), no one else from the team did. Think that worked on morale any? "
I don't know what that is suppose to mean but I took it as a negative comment.

About the kids being lazy, not being ready with equipment, senior leadership. I do agree with and you know that. "I felt" that the grade issue was a punch to my gut and maybe others. Yes, it really gets to me because I know I have done alot to get that turned around on my side. I feel like I have failed and you know what I mean by that.

I want to apologize to you that I was taking it so personally and reading into it wrong.
