Re: Top Tennis Player in SEO History
No clue on if she's the best in history, but Unioto Sophomore Sylvia Gray has had an unreal start to her career.
As a Freshman last year, she didn't suffer a loss until the State Meet.
This year, she's once again undefeated and has absolutely dominated everyone she has played, including having 2 perfect matches. She just swept through sectional play without losing a game, going 6-0, 6-0 all the way through.
She appears to be on her way to an awesome overall career.

Re: Top Tennis Player in SEO History
Chillicothe has had 2 Doubles teams who won the Division 1 Doubles title in 2000 and 2005. The 2000 team was a pair of sisters who moved out West during that school year...and won a Doubles title in that state too! Lol
The team that they beat in the Finals in 2000 were looking for their 3rd straight state championship and the Taylor sisters beat them 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Very impressive!
The 2005 team of Natalie Skocik and Madison Wright-Piekarski were very impressive as well. They dominated the state tournament in 2005, they also reached it in 2004 and 2006 as well. MWP made it with a different Doubles partner in 2003 and Skocik made it as an individual in 2007. They both were 2 time All Ohio in Division 1.
Only one other team from SE Ohio has made it to the Finals and that was a team from Marietta in 1983.
However, Portsmouth's Ali Miller was a State Runner-up in 2013, which is the furthest that a girls individual has ever reached from SE Ohio. She lost in 3 sets, so it was a highly competitive match! In her first round victory in 2013, she defeated Lauren Gillinov from Hathaway Brown, who would go on to win the next 3 years state championships.
I would have to submit Ali Miller as the Gold Standard for Girls Tennis in SE Ohio as an individual, as she was a 4-time All-Ohio winner (which means you have to win at least one match at the state tournament) with being 1st team twice.

Re: Top Tennis Player in SEO History
The Boys side appears to be a bit more barren with success. Marietta did have a State Champion in 1980 and Ironton did in 1922, but only have had a state runner-up twice from the SE District, one from Ironton in 1923 and one from Portsmouth in 1940.
