Seven 2013 GAHS senior Blue Devil and Blue Angle athletes each received $150 scholarships during Tuesday night's HOF committee meeting in the Gallia Academy High School cafeteria at Centenary.
They were—Jimmy Clagg, eight varsity letters 4.05 GPA, and 28 on the ACT. Abby Wiseman, eight varsity letters 3.703 GPA and 25 on the ACT. Breanna West, eight varsity letters 3.493 GPA, 21 on ACT.
Justin Bailey, eight varsity letters, 3.492 GPA and 23 ACT. Riley Nibert, five varsity letters, 4.053 GPA, 27 on ACT. Briggs Shoemaker, five varsity letters, 3.836 GPA, and 25 on ACT. Halley Barnes, five varsity letters 3.8 GPA, and 22 on ACT.
Members of the HOF scholarship selection committee were Renee Barnes, Karen Sprague, Brenda Wilson and Sarah Evans-Moore.
In other matters taken up by the committee, dates for the 2013 athletic hall of fame induction and the 12th annual HOF banquet were announced.
The 2013 inductees will be introduced prior to the GAHS-Fairland football game on Friday, Sept. 13. The banquet will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 in the GAHS cafeteria.
President Tom Meadows announced that 15 holdovers who did not make it last year are still on file at the Bossard Memorial Library. Seven new candidates have been turned in, making a total of 22 to be voted on later this year.
Meadows said the next GAHS Athletic HOF meeting will be held on July 16, in the GAHS cafeteria.
Attending Tuesday’s meeting were Meadows, Brent Simms, Tom Morgan, Hobart Wilson, Jr., Jack Payton, Rusty Saunders, Jim Osborne, Keith McGuire, Renee Barnes, Jim Craft, Tom and Lori Young.
