John Herrnstein (Chillicothe)

John was a 1956 Chillicothe graduate and went on to play baseball and football at the University of Michigan. Despite many outstanding statistical games at fullback for the Wolverines, multiple injuries ended his football career in his 3rd game in 1958. However, John would play baseball at Michigan in the 1957 and '58 seasons, eventually signing with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1958. He would make his Major League debut in 1962 and played for 5 years.
