I had hoped to congratulate the 2011 NY Buckeyes on their first undefeated season since 97-98. However, that does not take anything away from the great season the Bucks have put together! In times like this it is time for the boys to come closer together and play for one another this week against West! As a former Buckeye we all wish you the best of luck going for a Regional and State title! Go Bucks! Believe and Achieve!

I have a feeling the "We have soccer!" chant might be a bit more popular in the future rivalry games. Those of us on the soccer side were very proud to see our boys help out their fellow Bulldogs. I don't think I've ever heard that many excited comments about soccer at a football crowd in my life. Ha! It was fun to hear and I think our boys opened a few eyes to what kind of athletes and young men we have on the soccer side of things. Again, football or soccer, they're all Bulldogs and it was a great win for the school. I know Seth and Nathan were just happy to contribute and be a part of things.

Good luck to both Athens and N-Y in the playoffs!

Congrats to Athens on a great win. Saw this one coming. As much talk that was going on by the Buckeyes put a good team in the corner. Bulldawgs became very vicious.

I'd be willing to guess that Athens soccer didn't need a FG to make them legit...Disteict titles and good runs in the tournament speak for themselves. Athens soccer is dangerous and well respected year in and year out in SEOHIO.

Soccer at Athens is very legit with the soccer crowd. I simply meant its a little more mainstream after last night.

Yes, it was fine for the football team to add a player...
Coach Adams did what was required by getting the player acclimation days in so he could play...

About Athens Soccer -
I spoke with their coach and the smile on his face was awesome...we are all proud of his boys...
When I was in school at Athens, we traveled to the soccer play-offs to support both our men's team and women's team. They supported us on Friday Nights. Like the above mentioned, just look at the Play-Off runs they have made over the past 10 years, our soccer is legit!

Perhaps I chose the wrong word. Yes Athens has a very good soccer program but not nearly as popular with Athens fans as football. I have personally seen the number of fans that attend and is nowhere near the support for some other sports. I really meant no disrespect and I notice the Athens coach didn't seem offended in the slightest.

BUCKEYE_MASTER ... Athens doesn't have freshmen listed on its roster either - yet some have played throughout the season (I know they brought one kid up to play versus Warren) ... I have seen numerous teams do this over the years, bring players up from lower levels to play varsity that are not on the roster at the beginning of the season.

I am by no means an expert on the rules of the OHSAA ... But I do know Ryan Adams is a pretty smart and fair guy - he would have made 110% sure that it was o.k. to have the kid play Friday.
