Coaching search at GA
Lets try to limit this thread to the actual search for a coach. Here are some things I would like to see discussed:
1. Have interviews started? How many applicants?
2. What kind of coach is needed at GA?
3. What are the top priorities for the new guy once he is hired?

Ask questions and get your answers here:
1. No clue
2. A really young guy full of fire and enthusiasm who has a lot of experience and success. A young vivrant proven winner who has had success over the long haul.
3. Win, keep all the parents and players happy, keep the admin happy, raise a lot of money without asking for donations, get a lot of players out but not too many, build a great staff of young fire balls with a lot of successful experience.

A really young guy with lots of experience and success it a tough combination to find. My opinoin is that if you go after some young coach that is fiery and a "players" coach, you get someone who is a buddy instead of a coach. He may be well liked but is he respected? If you dont respect your coach, you may not work hard for that guy everyday. I played for Coach Saunders and I'm not sure I liked him while playing for him, he was tough on us. But I respected the heck out of him and was somewhat intimidated by him and that made me work harder. I sure like him now that I am older and still respect him.
Re: Coaching search at GA
Just came from the other GAHS coaching thread…..This coaching search has great potential for becoming a major movie deal…. Just think about…. Goldie Hawn could come out of retirement and take over; she did a great job in Wildcats….. She could recruit all the street kids that haven’t been playing.. All the parents would be happy, especially the guys….LOL She has a Hollywood connection and would raise huge amounts of $$$$$..... The kids that left would come back and the kids that want to leave would stay… A Win-Win situation....

Herman Boone is still alive, isn't he? Maybe he could bring peace and success to GA.

Looks like this thread is about as serious as the administration is about getting a coach anytime in the foreseeable future...
Re: Coaching search at GA
My post was serious. I think they need a young guy who has a lot of years of successful coaching under his belt. A true motivator, that everyone loves and knows how to get the best out of every athlete he coaches. A coach who has won over 90% of his games. One that can get kids to run through brick walls. There is a coach at a local school that claims he has all the above qualities. I think the admin at GAHS should approach said coach and coax him out of the county school.

There is a coach in Gallia County that has won 90% of the high school games he has coached? How many years? As a head coach??? Hope your not talking about Jr. High or midget football.

There are much bigger fish to fry in the Gallipolis City School District than who will be the head football coach. Much bigger.
If the governor's education proposals are passed, there won't be much left of this school district or any other rural district. Football or who coaches it is not a top priority for the administration at this point.
Besides, there are competent men already in the district who can handle the job.
Although Goldie Hawn would get my vote.

Sounds to me like someone has a man crush on Brace or is just very jealous of his success!!!
Re: Coaching search at GA
Witness is correct..... Finding a new coach is not a priority.... Top priority should be getting the new school ready, many problems to deal with, some problems they don't even know about yet....... In my opinion the new coach has been decided on..... we will stay in house..... No need to interview and waste time on something already decided....

All I did was get on here and tell you things that the guy posted about himself and claims they are facts. With the qualities the guy claims to have I don't see why he shouldn't be at the top of the list in this search. Especially since he is already a local guy. Geesh I try to get on here and be serious talking this guy up and you want to slam me for it. Come on guys try to be more positive. I believe you are better than that.

They wouldn't try to lure a certain coach from Wheelersburg up that way would they?

Re: Coaching search at GA
So you think we should hire a successful JV basketball coach (if that is who it is he was talking about) to coach our football team?????? Interesting!
Re: Coaching search at GA
Over 90%, 38 in row, getting kids to run through brick walls. Does it matter the sport? Just saying.

The long delay makes one think that the GA is looking at someone at another school and waiting for a job to open. Sounds like Woodard is the ideal guy.

Does it matter the sport? Are you kidding? Do you think Coach Tressel could coach basketball at Ohio State? If your answer is yes then I'll just take your responses as a joke.
Did the Woodard or Woodward kid play for Saunders or Bok as a head coach?
