If boosters contributed specifically for athletic facilities it sould be spent on facilities or the money refunded and apologies garnered. Even a "athletic facility group" formed and any money collected could be held until a guarantee issued that it would be spent on facilities. I doubt a big name group is going to step in, especially if they hear about the money being collected then not being used for the facilities it was donated for. Yes studies are more important than athletics but so is honesty being portrayed by adults. However, rasing money prior to establishing some sort of agreement or guarantee is kind of putting the cart before the horse especially doing so without any estimates or figures to give to prospective contributors.

the group existed outside the school. it was the boosters mostly calling in favors to participate in golf outings and car washes and raffles.they collected money and had events outside of the school to bring money in to build the sports complex. this was not about just football. they where going to build baseball and softball fields and a track. what has become of the money i do not know, i am a little fish. but they did their part. i believe the board knew the levy would pass. they where afraid another one to fund other stuff would not. i also believe they where going to play" hide the ball" with voters who would think they where funding a football field( popular) as opposed to funding school improvements ( not so popular).
the really bad part is they are upsetting the part of the county that will work and care enough to do stuff. when they drive these people away, nothing will ever get done. the board people need to understand that the "no" people will always say no, but if you drive off the "yes" people, you are left with nothing.

does any of this make sense?

gt, the posters from Nelsonville are arrogant fools. What do you expect, though, they are just like their head coach. It's funny that you never see any NY posters around during hoops or baseball season. At least the school I follow contends for league titles in multiple sports every year.

there is no way anyone on here can have an arguing case for wellston to be good.
yes all they lost was lockard, but other then him what did they have? When they played jackson lasted year that was the only thing they could do was let lockard return kickoffs? no offense and no defense....mcknelly is the only bright spot they have.

they need to recruit bad...

The Wellston/Jackson score was 41-14 last year. It was a joke, even with the second best player in the TVC they couldn't win. And now they lose that player and how are they going to compete? They will not. I am for one that believes that Wellston will be terrible.

Wellston played Jackson pretty even for three quarters last year, but the game is four quarters.Wellston just ran out of gas . IN my opinon thats where the numbers come in .This years team is alot better than last years team.Wellston has three good backs ,one of those backs is the second fasted player in the league behind Smith of Meigs , but Jalen is 215 lbs that is a load running at 4.6 in the forty. The Rockets have a good Qb in Cody Wilcot he has endured a first season of getting punished to a decent season last year ,he has been in the weightroom working hard, and I'm sure he remembers the rough times and will have a great season. His favorite target cannot be single covered by anyone in the league ,Mattson is as good as any reciever to ever play for Wellston. Wellston biggest improvement is on the O-line and D-line decent size and good quickness. The Rocket linebackers will be as good if not better than any in our league. The D-backs are solid with good overall speed.
I truly hope that every team takes these Rockets lightly.
GO ROCKETS!!!!!

I agree Boiler. The Rockets will be much improved this season and anyone who thinks they will be an easy out might be in for a big surprise. Good Luck to Coach Mantell and the Rockets this season!
