They did capitalize on the myriad (that means numerous) of miscues by Jackson. The Pioneers will play next week and the Ironmen will not, and that is really all that matters in the end.

When you are given a gift, as you have been, you should be gratious and simply say thanks. Do not try to make it something it wasn't. Jonathan Alder did not win the game, Jackson lost it. Plain and simple. It is why they play the games.

As an outsider, I thought the teams were very close talent wise. Alder was the more disciplined team and didn't turn the ball over and that was the main difference. I thought Jackson really moved the ball quite well for only scoring 7 pts but each time they got close they made a big mistake, which obviously you can't do against a good team like Alder. Alder should be given credit for capitalizing on the Jackson miscues and on playing a nearly mistake free game with the exception of a few penalties. Congratulations to the Ironmen on a fantastic season and good luck to Alder next week.

All I can say is WOW! I am an Alder fan and Jackson was just as good, if not better, than us. This game was two phenomenal teams playing tough football. Ervin (7) is one of the best football players I have seen in a while and he is the only running back to run over our defense like that: he is a S.T.U.D!!! In Wrightsel's (1) defense, he was just coming off of an ankle injury, but all of our linebackers at one point or another felt the wrath of 7.

This is how it works in the playoffs when two great teams play. Alder's discipline won the game and nothing else. We weren't more talented and the teams were very equal. We better get back to the drawing board and toughen up if we want to win 15 games! Congratulations to Jackson on a great season and for having a great football team. They certainly hit like madmen. Survive and advance...

Reminded me of the classic speed versus power argument,Jackson defintely looked stronger of the two but Alder had the quickness that's what beat Jackson not just turnovers and mistakes, Adler still had to score when they got the ball and score they did,,ALder passing burned Jackson tonight, Ironmen didn't look ready for that at all..And I am surprised Jackson didn't air it out more on Alder,they did have success rushing the ball, but to beat a team like Alder unless your someone like Ursuline you have to to throw the ball..I talked to someone very close to the Alder program and he said they didn't expect Jackson to throw at all and he was right they only threw when everybody in the stadium knew it was coming,so its a miracle they had that much success rushing shows how strong they are.Jackson had the ball plenty of times deep in the Alder territory but couldn't do nothing with it so they have nobody to blame but themselves..That big early lead Alder had,had the players from Jackson hanging their heads big time and I thought Alder would completely run away with it when I saw that,but they kept fighting and didn't give up until late in the 4th that was good to see,,,congrats on a great season Ironmen

This was a frustrating game to watch from a football fan's standpoint. There isn't bias towards one side or the other, but it's always frustrating when you see a game like this played wondering how it'd have been without the mistakes. I think it would have been 7-7 or 7-14 at the half. These were two strong, evenly matched teams and anytime one side makes mistakes the other will take advantage. Jackson has a great season and Alder will continue on. As for my thoughts on Alder going forward? I wasn't impressed with their overall defense. When Jackson finally started to move the ball it was 5-8 yards each time and they put together three drives of 16 plays or more. To Alder's credit they made adjustments in their territory to force Jackson into passing situations. And that's another thing that surprised me. Osborne has a decent arm, at some point you have to throw some passes across the middle of medium length to back the defense off. Jackson never did despite showing the ability to do this during the regular season. It allowed Alder to load the box, and even then at times Jackson was able to move the ball methodically. Offensively, they were OK but not great. Jackson played them extremely tough up front and caused some problems for JA. If Alder plays this way going forward they will get beat because the other side won't turn the ball over or keep their drives going with dumb penalties. But DIII did get more interesting with the upsets. Any given Friday, but in the playoffs you can't make mistakes. Jackson did, they lost. Bottom line.

ALder passing burned Jackson tonight

That's a bit misleading. I believe their QB was 3/5 with 2 TDs. And, correct me if I am wrong on the first TD because I was shielded, it seemed that on the big play that Jackson's DB went for the pick instead of playing to knock it down and missed, leaving it an easy score for Alder. And the second was horrendous coverage by Jackson. The kid stopped and waited for the ball two yards behind the first down marker with two Jackson players ten yards off of him waiting for him to run towards them after the catch. Not taking anything away from Alder, just saying you make it sound like he went 17-25 for 300 yards when he was nowhere near that, and that's not Alder's game anyway. The Alder QB showed good accuracy on those throws but didn't light Jackson up, a combination of poor coverage and accuracy will create those big plays.
