TVC-Ohio post season awards

Post by 93Bulldog »

With a lot of teams done with football (besides NY & Athens) ... I thought perhaps a topic for fans to throw some names out their for ALL LEAGUE, PLAYER OF THE YEARS, ETC...ETC... would be o.k. now.

Here is the final TVC-Ohio leaderboard ... http://trivalleyconference.com/Leaderboards.html

Young should be O-POTY hands down.
D-POTY , Prater is the best def player Ive seen in the TVC. But since he was injured . Rider will probably get it. Minus the interception - Rider did not impress me in the WK 10 game.

How about the touchdown reception on the backside screen? That was pretty impressive I thought. Also, if Rider was able to run free as a strong safety like Prater does, he might stand out more to the casual fan ... He has to absorb all the attention, all the hits that comes with playing close to the line as a middle line-backer and almost every team (including NY) game plan around him in terms of extra blockers and what not. Prater can definitly put the smack down on opposing players, I loved watching him play versus Alexander ... But NY torched the Golden Rockets for 48 points - Rider on the other hand is the captain of the defense that held the Buckeyes to a season low 21 ... He does so much more than just come up with a crowd pleasing hit every once in awhile.

I agree with Young being OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR ... You could make a case for Nathan Dean as well. Both had far and away better stats than the rest of the league in terms of their position.

I think offense player of the eyar should be D. Young from Nelsonville. Defensive player of the year Rider from Athens. Chris Russell from Athens is also deserving of that award and should be at least an all-tvc pick. D. Hook from Nelsonville is also a great defensive player as well as Bennett from Alex and Prater from Wellston.

Personally, I think Kyle Freer has got to be mentioned somewhere in the mix from NY.

What does that have to do with D-POTY?
Prater played LB vs. NY and made almost every tackle. He is also the fastest player in the TVC Ohio. And a D1 recruit. Like I said Prater was the best ive seen in the TVC!

It has nothing to do with defensive player of the year nybucks70-80 ... Your statement stated (outside the INT, Rider didn't impress me at all) ... I was just stating that the TD reception was impressive I thought.

That's all.

Lets not forget the lineman. Athens had a couple good ones, NY had Coon and Alex had Douglas. Those would be good candidates for lineman of the year.

D-POTY After seeing both play I like Rider better but Prater was playing both ways in high profile positions so he may not have had the wind to play 100% every down Rider was in almost every tackle at Gallia this year he is a ver y hard hitter that just keeps coming

OPOTY - Dean or Young (co?)
DPOTY - Rider / Athens NG (Best NG I've seen this year) Sorrell might be his name? (co?)
I didn't get to see all the NY or Athens games. But what games I did see these names pop out.

Prater only seen once at NY. Very fast side to side. Rider was able to take on NY lead blocker power plays plus
get to the outside to make the big tackles.

Sharp would also have to be considered OPOTY. He won it last year. He is a little banged up, plus TVC Ohio teams did a good job
on him this year. When is 100% watch out. Hope he has a big Friday night!

Go Dogs - Bucks and Cats.

I do like D. Young but to say that TVC Ohio shut Sharp down is crazy 4 tds against meigs, 3 tds against vinton,3 against alex, 1 against wellston and lets not forget he didn't play the second half of 3 out of five games and was still over 100 yds except for on game and was only 6 yds shy against nelsonville

I'm taking anything away from Sharp. I think he is unreal to be honest. I know Wellston, Vinton and Nelsonville held him under 100yds. I believe it was like 48 against Wellston, maybe 58 against Vinton and 77 against NY.
I know he is banged up a little also, so that might be some of the reason. Every team in the Ohio game planned for him.
Keeping him under 100 yds in any game is a great accomplishment. He's one of the best backs I've seen in a long time.

NYF, Vinton didn't hold hime to 55 yds in the game he had 3 tds against them and was taken out in the second half, against wellston it was the same thing. And I agree Nelsonville did a great job on him but just think he only touched the ball twice in the third quarter of that game. I think Dustin Young is a great player I just think Sharp brings more to the table as an all around back. I know if he would have played in any of the second half of those games he would have put up numbers but those games were well outta reach for him to even have to be in. But either way if Dustin wins it I think it will be deserved. Good luck tonight

One Glaring ommission from Athens on All district team..... Skinner!!!!!

Kid threw for over 1000 yards, ran over 300 yards and only played 7 and half games! Love how the kids that get hurt get thrown away like garbage. Too bad.

IMO, Coach Adams has some explaining to do.

Prater - 1st team all district
Bennett - 1st team all district

(Both players were injured the exact same week as Skinner ... Bennett did return to play, Prater did not.)

The only thing I can think of is that Bennett/Prater were awarded all-district on defense - Skinner is a QB and only two from D-III were named ... But still, I was surprised not to see him on the honorable mentioned list.
