Week 10 West @ Burg
Re: Week 10 West @ Burg
West is gonna have to pick up the intensity big time this week. Seniors play it like it's your last game, because if you loose it probably is.
Burg is gonna spread us for sure. They don't have the weapons that Valley had, but they still have some. Our defense of the spread has been less than steller at times this year. This game will be won or lost by our defensive line. We haven't been getting the push up the middle that I thought we would see. Our ends have to get off those blocks and keep the qb contained.

This appears to be a play in game....win and in according to some projections. I agree the crew is solid, unlike the crews that did Minford-burg and burg-valley. I don't care what anyone says...you may not be biased for one team but when your crew is trash it shows. (ex. Burg vs Valley) Refs WILL NOT be an issue in this game.

Re: Week 10 West @ Burg
Honestly coop, I wasn't impressed with the group for West/Valley. I know them, their nice guys. But the group for the Scioto Valley Pee Wee league shouldn't be doing the biggest game in the county. It gets very frustrating on the holding calls. West is physical and finishes their blocks. Alot of times this is called holding and it isn't. These spread teams get by with way too much holding on the ends allowing these qb's to get outside. If you remember in the second half the obvious facemask on Yates from the West safety. I don't think the guy called it because he saw our corner darn near get his jersey pulled off right by the other official which allowed Yates to get outside to start with. There needs to be an emphisis on this and if Burg is allowed to due it, Shears will be on the corner all night.chicken_coop wrote:This appears to be a play in game....win and in according to some projections. I am a Valley fan so it doesnt matter who wins this one to me.So here is my 2 cents worth I have seen both teams play and West has alot of size and some speed.Burg is small but dont let that fool you Valley handled West alot easier than Burg. Burg also has speed. I think Burg has little bit of an edge but if West can contain Burgs QB and WR they will stay in the game.

I know for sure they lost to cincy reading in the first round of the playoffs 39-31 in a mud bath but they lost week 10 to ports. They have past schedules on burgfan but it list the last two games away. I know the readimg game was at home b/c my best friend was a senior on that teamFIDO wrote:Should be another great game at Ed Miller........It's tough enough to beat the Burg in the Burg but when was the last time they lost 2 in a row at Ed Miller Stadium? I can't and won't make a prediction but I bet this will be another Senator/Pirate Classic....
Pretty sure that game was at Portsmouth. Burg recovered several onside kicks to keep it close with JoJo and company at Spartan.

Technically Burg lost 2 consecutive home games to Centerburg in a home playoff game in 2005 then lost to Ironton in 2006 at home

I am pulling for Burg but would hate to knock west out of the playoffs as they
may go farther in the playoffs.

I would like to say congrats to the Burg for the accomplishment of being able to raise the money for the new field that is awesome, shows how much appreciation you have for the kids and the program. I would say some people worked very hard on this project and I respect that. I look for this to be a pretty good game to different types of teams West being a veteran team and Burg being a young team. I think we really need to come into this game focused and have some fire in us, I don't think we have had this since the Minford game. Looking forward to seeing a good game up on the hill friday night.

Re: Week 10 West @ Burg
Lets go westttttttttttttttttttt. This game will be closer then many think, but i think west pulls it out and moves on to the next season. And hopefully go 5-0 in that season. But has we all no its 1 game at a time. And has for the burg-valley game A pee-wee crew would have done a better job
then the crew i watched at that game. they were terriable in all phases and has you can see by my name i am not a valley or a burg fan but i am a kid fan and no kid should have to play in a game where they are outright getting cheated and its obivouis to both sides. That game should have been protested by both teams.

SIDER4LIFE: After talking to some of the players from Valley no one really knows what those kids had to play through to come out victorious. Bogus pf's and being spit on and then trying to control themselves knowing if they retaliated they would be flagged and they even told the refs which kid was doing it nothing done about it. I lost alot of respect for that program that night. And gained alot of respect for West !

I thought West was the ones that act like that. Have the tables turned?
By the way, any of you see the end of the MSU-Wisconsin game. After they called TD, they had the camera on the field. I believe that was Trevon jumping up and down across the field. The announcers were laughing. He was in street clothes. Pretty cool.

SIDERMAN: THe last two years playing West I've gained alot of respect for there program they've turned the corner.and knowing Auger personally nothing but class .
Re: Week 10 West @ Burg
West has a fine group of kids. Alot of religious guys also. But we will forever have the rep we got in the 80's. Doesn't matter what they do.N B Heat wrote:SIDERMAN: THe last two years playing West I've gained alot of respect for there program they've turned the corner.and knowing Auger personally nothing but class .

Re: Week 10 West @ Burg
I like West in this matchup with open field tackling being the key. Both teams are sure to break some runs and the tackling I saw on a few key plays against Valley was atrocious. Sure Keller is a big boy and hard to bring down, but it is impossible to tackle someone from your knees with your head down in the open field. West's defensive backs are physical and dont shy from contact when they break down to tackle.
Its funny that everyone in the stadium knows what Burg is going to do based on their formation. Trips right and Shears scrambles to the trips, dragging every defender across the field, then turns and runs to the backside. Twins right and left and he runs up the middle. They just spread the defense out and run to the backside. But no defense has been able to contain him. That still gets the bulk of Burg's yards on the ground.
It will be interesting to see if West doesnt take a kid like Bricker or Auger and have them spy on Shears every play.

SIDERMAN: The perception is changing dont know much about the 80's but this group of kids at West know how to play the game they are hard hitting and tough but the cheap stuff is'nt there . GOOD LUCK against the BURG ,will be rooting for ya . Hoping for an all SCIOTO CO REGIONAL FINAL !
