word i got was eric and clay have been at camp this week but not participating due to injury, although eric was without crutches and clay was throwing. this sounds like good news to me. hopefully they will be ready to go week 1 and set the tone for a great season. best of luck to the eagles this year.

I just heard that Belpre is moving to a small division in their league. Any truth to that? If so, why? Didn't they just win the big league a few years ago? Why would they want out of it if they just won it?

They did win it two seasons ago but they should not have beaten N-Y or V-C that year. We saw the N-Y game and there is no way they should have won that one. N-Y was the much better team. That was proven when we slottered Belpre the week after that game. So it is a good idea for them to move down to the Hocking Division. It makes it better for us too now cause the Ohio Division will have an even number teams again.

With Belpre leaving the Ohio, maybe it will improve Meigs chances of winning a league title; seeing how Meigs has only won 2 titles outright (1986 and 1998) and shared 2 others. 1 with Belpre (1987) and 1 with Vinton (1996). No titles for Meigs since 1998.

So have does it prove that you beat us that year made NY the better team? You went to NY and lost 19-14. We went to NY 2 weeks later and won 10-6 and have a league title to show that we were the best team that year, even though we lost to Meigs.

We beat you 42-6. And like I said we saw the Belpre N-Y game. It was pretty much dominated by N-Y in my opinion. Belpre caught a few breaks. Anyway, at least we are not tucking tail and scurrying to a smaller, weaker league. That is one move that you yourself was on here repeatedly denying would ever happen. Yet it happened. I think some people should realize they don't always know as much as they think they know.

Hardhitter, Let me guess, Meigs shouldn't have lost to NY? Unlike meigs, we went to Nelsonville and got the job done and came out with a win. NY may have dominated the game but we made plays when we needed them like the interception in the 4th Qtr. You may have beat us in week 10 but we were actually able to beat NY, a win over the Buckeyes is a pretty darn good win. to say Belpre doesn't deserve that TVC title is ridiculous.

I never said Belpre doesn't deserve that title. I said they should not have won those games. But like you said they did win them and do deserve the title. The better team does not always win games. IMO Belpre was not the better team, but they did win those games and do deserve the title because of that. But you can't deny the fact that they have moved to a weaker league.

You forgot to put the smiley face after your post, cause that really is funny. Meigs would win the Hocking 90% of the time. Don't think just cause you beat N-Y most of the time now that you could beat all the other Ohio division teams. With the weaker Hocking schedule it is easier to get up for the one game.

^^ well last year we beat belpre and alexander who are both in the ohio. we also scrimmaged meigs and athens, and even though they were scrimmages i think we faired pretty well against those two. we also played crooksville last year and that is a team that the ohio division wanted absolutely no part of when they tried to get in a few years ago. meigs would win their share, but not 9 out of 10. maybe 3 out of 10, but that would be it.

Yes, you beat us. Congrats. The English boy was the difference. Great young man and good player.

As for tucking tail and running, don't think so. Enrollment pretty much was the reason for going to the Hocking. Not something anyone on the Belpre coaching staff wanted to do but they realized it needed done. Going to the Hocking was something I wouldn't have done and until the latest enrollment numbers came out, it wouldn't have happened. The TVC as a whole and the Hocking especially didn't want us to move down until they saw the numbers. That is why the agreed. Even I can't predict the future 3 years down the road, but, I know alot more what I let out on SEOPS. ;-)

I guess we will just take our 129 TVC championships with us to the small school divison. We still lead in the title count over Meigs even if we only count the titles we have won since Meigs came into the TVC.

The main reason for Crooksville not getting into the TVC Ohio was travel considerations. They weren't really interested in leaving the MVL. Their coaches voted against it once the idea was presented to them. So, they turned us down.

Looking forward to Trimble coming to Belpre in week #3. The Tomcats always play good, sound football. I am glad to see the series with Trimble starting backup.

was at the midnight mayhem last night and really enjoyed it! seemed like the boys did too. lot of hittin' goin' on! this could be something that could be expanded on, make it an annual event, concessions, meet the team kind of thing. anyway, the o-line looked big, quick and strong. speed at the skill positions is good. health and depth are still a bit of a concern. football season is back in full swing! can't wait til aug 28.

go eagles!
