You can head Nelsonville-York @ Alexander Friday night on the air on Power 105's presentation of the Athens County High School Football Game of the Week.
Pregame coverage starts at 7:15 from Spartan Stadium with Rob Schreier and Ben Strunk.
Good luck to both teams and thanks for listening.

I ADDED A PHOTO TO SHOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN IN ALBANY IF IT RAINS A LOT .... http://trivalleyconference.com/Blogs.htmlindianabuck wrote:The field will help Alex for a while, but NY has too much skill talent and speed even in mud to take control late. It will be interesting to see how well Alexs new field holds up to all this rain.

We've got plenty of hose just in case the rain stops. The soccer game on it tonight should definitely help soften it up too.

I think that picture from 2009 was the dry part of the field!

This scenerio does seem erie ... Alexander got beat up pretty badly by Athens in week 6 of 2009 losing 33-7 ... Nelsonville-York was undefeated (6-0) and NOBODY in Ohio gave the Spartans a chance for their meeting in Albany week 7 ... Then the rain came (just like it is now) - the field was horrible - and of course Alex pulled off what many believed was impossible by beating the Buckeyes for the first time ever.
Rain - muddy field - Alex coming off a lopsided loss to Athens - the Buckeyes being undefeated - the Spartans being heavy underdogs ... Sound familar?

Well speed won't be a factor in this game, as long as the rain keeps up. It will come down to who has the size, feet, and technique.

Ok time to put up or shut up. I'll take the Buckeyes by 3 td's, any takers?stoleit_2711 wrote:Well speed won't be a factor in this game, as long as the rain keeps up. It will come down to who has the size, feet, and technique.

Talent alone can win a 2 or three county SEO league. From what I've seen this year N-Y (opponents records: 26-37) should demolish Alex (opponents record: 19-45) and beat Athens quite handily in the last game. I'm still waiting to see if Little Davey can win a playoff for the first time in eons and break new ground. Let's get this yearly overhyped TVC Ohio regular season over so the real fun can begin.

Only difference is that at least it wont be raining during the game like 2 years. It will still be wet and muddy, but at least it will be a clear cool night.93Bulldog wrote:I ADDED A PHOTO TO SHOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN IN ALBANY IF IT RAINS A LOT .... http://trivalleyconference.com/Blogs.htmlindianabuck wrote:The field will help Alex for a while, but NY has too much skill talent and speed even in mud to take control late. Been coming down pretty hard all day, looks like it is going to be another mudbowl.

All the talk about Alexander messing up their field before friday night can be put to rest. Last nights soccer game was postponed due to weather and Alexander refused to let the game be played tonight because of what it would do to the field for friday nights game. The soccer game is at Athens High School now.

I would hope that most of the comments about Alex intentionally watering their field were in jest. I can't really see coach Arno out there with a water hose for the amount of time it would take to create that lake they had in 2009.

There was an emergency meeting of the school board last night to see if we could get a loan to pay for our water bill this month. We are just a poor farming community after all. There will also be a donation bucket as you enter the stadium tomorrow night. Buckeye fans are encouraged to throw a dollar or two in. Your help is appreciated.
