Top Friday night players in this area Fr-Sr

Post by IronmenTradition »

I know there are some great teams around this area this season. Who are the top players around here at each position? I've only watched Jackson and the teams they have played.

From Jackson I would say...
Austin Osborne- QB,SS,KR,PR
-hands down the most athletic kid on a very good football team. Offense, Defense, special teams he does it all. I honestly think he is the best high school football player in southern Ohio, doubt me? Watch him play then tell me different.

Drew Ervin-RB,OLB,KR,PR
- drew looks like a power back over 200 lbs and bench pressing over 300lbs, but really is a speed back with a lot of size, needs to work on running harder, sometime too easy to bring down when hit low. Once he hits open field see ya. Defensively he is an animal.

Ty McNelly-WR,C,KR,PR
-ty has to be the top 3 wrs if not the best around here. About 6ft tall and 175, but very athletic and goes up to get the ball. He can jump, fast, return kicks and a good corner too.

OJ Barr-DT

Morgan Landrum-FB,MLB

Alec Osborne-C

I would also say Freshman Reagan Williams and Soph Nathan Parks, both young but solid football players. Reagan will play division one football I'm taking bets on that one already.

Other players I've seen that should be mentioned are...
Jalen Prater - Wellston qb,lb (signed with big ten Northwestern)

Don't know their names but Logan had a good Wr.
Athens RB and a LB

Ironton Trevor White and #30

Gallia Academy's RB

Warren's Qb, Big Wr and #5

Someone may know the names of these guys but thats just a few that impressed me.

Went to watch the Ironton - Jackson football game and all I can say is that #88 is one the best blocking and pass catching tight ends that I've seen in a while.

combs-manchester...he may be on a struggling team but he plays hard no matter if their up or down....he can jump and grab the ball just as good as any wr in this area...can throw the ball if needed to and can also run with authority...southeastern ohio is filled with really good players

Heard that Aaron Guisinger #71 of Gallipolis was invited to see the game from the sidelines Saturday at Indiana St, but isn't able to attend due to previous commitments.

I'd put Blake Yates against him in that category.

Yates is an excellent multi-sport athlete for Valley. QB of one of the better football teams in the area, all-district basketball player and is probably a baseball player...but don't know that.

Best all-around football player fits Osborne's mold better IMO.

If Austin had stayed at Wellston you would not be hearing too much about him.
Like I said on another topic he just might be he MVP of SEOAL this year.

I watched the video. He's definitely a talented young man. It looks like he could have a future at the next level as a DB. He seemed to have excellent instincts to go with that athleticsm. Does he throw the ball much on offense?

He throws it quite well....well enough to wonder why he wasn't the QB in Wellston.
