Umm no he didnt. Jeff Witt, Curtis Rose, Ron "Squeak" Walker, John Godfrey, Ryan Wilson, Jose Medina, Jimmer Brienning, Rodney Krannitz, Brice Frasure, Matt Shaw, Craig Wolfe; all members of Perry's playoff team in 1987; ALL PLAYED BOTH WAYS. 1988, SAME THING; DIFFERENT ROSTER. Perry played the best kids he could where ever he could. And the majority of them, 99% of them played both ways.
gonna have to agree and disagree on that. i know most of those guys and matter of fact just talked to one of them today. a few of those guys went both ways but 99% is awful high. not mentioning any names but some on ur list went both ways on that team. he said he might have put some people here and there when needed but almost all of those guys had one job. some linemen went both ways. and special teams. other than that he said they basicly had one job and was a well rested team in 4 periods of play. but some had spot duty both ways but not like they had to drag it out the whole game.

Trenchfoot, everyone that he mentioned on that quote above played both ways that year. Everyone. Witt- DE/OG; Rose OT/DT, Walker - SE/DB, Godfrey- DT/OT, Wilson- FB/LB, Medina- FL/DB, Brienning- QB/S, Krannitz- DE/TE; Frasure -WB/DB; Shaw- C/NG; Wolfe-OG/DL; they all played both ways. He's right.

That was a long time ago, but seems like I remember the Krannitz boy only playing tight end that year,I used to hang with him a lot and he never mentioned anything about defense maybe spot duty but not much,,his claim to fame was tight end, but I do remember some of them boys going both ways them years,,it really doesn't now matter that's all water under the bridge,,,,some coaches subscribe to the theory that they want their best athletes on the field at all times, but it's so late in the year and their season is going to be dismal no matter what,I say play the younger ones at least a half start building for next year...

I would keep Music in there too
If Long wants on the team have him sit and watch.

Pretty good looking frosh QB at Logan as well. Good size and good arm. Just needs time to throw. Not saying he should be varsity but should be a good battle next year. I agree Long has had so many strikes and chances that he has earned his way out for sure.

Logan lost 25/06
Their QB is the only thing they had and Logan couldn't contain him.

Alder Frosh beat Logan 25-6.................tomorrow night is supposed to windy and nasty which might help Logan's cause as it will most likely slow down the Alder passing attack,,,if Logan can somehow slow down Alders rushing game who knows might be a respectable score....

Friday game day perdiction:

Jonathan Alder 42

Coate feels sorry for his old school and removers his starters at begining of the 3rd qurater. Logan will atleast score 2 TD against JA 2nd and 3rd team!

Good Luck Chiefs!

Cool and windy. Hope Logan holds their own. If not, might try beat the traffic out of the stadium tonight.

Maybe this will settle.

Offense:
QB Breinning
RB Clark
FB Walsh
WR Medina
WR Maniskas/Frasure/Walker (brought in plays)
TE Kranitz
LT Rose
LG Fisk
C Shaw / McDonald - Shaw broke his arm in game 4
RG Wolfe
LT Godfrey

Defense:
LE Witt
LT Godfrey
NT Rose
RT Buntoff
RE Wolfe
LB Wilson
LB Walsh
DB Frasure
DB Walker
DB Medina
DB Maniskas

About half both ways...i lived through the Coate and Perry era...never, ever was there an attempt to platoon....best players played...end of story....about winning; not fresh legs

Also, Perry didn't "inherit basically the same team" Coate with 3-7 with. He inherited a group of juniors who were forced to play too early as sophomores and essentially form the core of Coate's last team. Having to depend on mostly sophomores at the Varsity level is not exactly a recipe for success. Combine this with with a 3 year starter at QB (Myers) and a stud receiver (Conrad) plus 2-3 sophomores who can contribute (Rose, Godfrey, Wilson) and you are going to be pretty good.

Logangrad wrote:The 1987 team that made the playoffs had at least 9 players that played both ways. Some of the guys you have mentioned like Maniskas, Fiske, Clark, Walsh were juniors and didnt play very much but played both ways in 1988 for sure. I just had a conversation with a former assistant about this last night at the freshmen game and he verified that 1986,87 and 88 ran almost entirely on players going both ways.
Dude, how do you get 9? That is the line up directly from the LDN for the Sandusky game.

According to Locos, Logan has never beaten a former head coach in football

Never thought I'd see a Logan home game so lifeless and quiet as this one. Seems even fans who show up accept the losing quietly. Hope they can win against a down Portsmouth team next week on senior night so these boys can go out with a win and Logan doesn't go winless at home all season. One thing for sure, it's more fun for your team to be on the other end of these scores. Things have to get better from here.
