Post by BurgDaddy101 »

What do you think the scores will be and who will be the key players to make a diffrence in the outcome of the game?

Do they give points for losses now? Just kidding dude. Looking forward to football this year. Ironton has 6 home games. This is going to be a very exciting season.

Hard to say who the key players will be but both teams return some good athletes. I know the Burg will return Lang along with Shankwiler and those tall ends. I have no idea about what kind of line they'll have though. Ironton on the other hand loses their entire backfield except for Wetsel. I'town will have some very big good linemen which could make the difference. But with a relatively inexperienced backfield and ends they will have to execute well. If Ironton can hold onto the ball much better than they did last year I still like their chances. Lastly, they will have to finally find some guys who can protect the ends and not let the Burg qb beat them to death off the edge. Should be an excellent game as always, two very talented teams.

Didn't we hear this last season also?
Broken record every season from Ironton Fans.
Oh We are SO BIG this year!!! Talks of State and How they will demolish everyone.
Last years results A loss at Burg.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy watching Ironton, I think its a storied program and always has potential to be a dangerous team to make a run at state, but don't build up a team WAY before the season even starts. Let's get at least 1 or 2 games into the season to see how good a team REALLY is. No matter how good things look coming in, Thinkgs can go wrong. No matter what program.

I know the burg will be tough, There line is going to be much better than it has been the past couple years. They also have some great running backs from Craigmiles, Lang, Walker and Shankwiler. They will be hard to stop but if any team can do it will be ironton. Honsetly i think its going to turn out like the last time Burg went to Ironton. Im thinking the burg just maybe to good. Go Burg and Dominate on the gridiron.

You would think this will be a close game, but I think WB has way too much speed for Ironton. I'd say WB by 2 scores

This game might be close in the first half but the Burg runs away with it in the second. 34-7 Burg!!!

I'll give credit to Wheelersburg, they are going to be a very good team and make a nice run in the playoffs but Ironton is going to be better than most people maybe thinking. This will not be a blow out by either team in my opinion. I do think Ironton wins this year by a TD. Ironton has more than enough talent to fill the running back positions and will have a quicker and more mobile QB. The line will be solid with alot of starters returning. If Ironton moves Edens back to running back watch out with him and Wetzel in the back field, add J P Taylor, Lewis, Wilks, Warner and throw in a couple of last years Freshmen that were very good and you have a pretty darn good backfield that is pretty deep.

GO TIGERS..............

I like Ironton having that scrimmage game with Coal Grove this year. I think that the last two years, scrimmaging Greenup County has been bad for the Fighting Tigers as GC were so bad no one could get a good assessment of the team

I think tigercannon71 is being a little conservative as I look for the TIGERS to break 100 points this game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i think thats as bout as well as it could be said. this series has been dominated in the past by ironton, but the last 4/5 years , it has been a jawdropper. 2 storied programs here. seperate by teams nearly virtually the same size enrollment. fundamentally sound coaching. and always producing top athletes. definately future GAME OF THE WEEK.

win-loss wise ironton dominated but with the exception of a few blowouts on both sides the rest of the games have always been fairly competative. I believe the burg won 3 out of 4 to end the 90's.

If I can be serious for a minute. This is usually a pretty great game. Both teams come in to it prepared and ready to play. With it being the first game of the season it comes down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. Look at lats years game IF Ironton takes care of the ball and IF Burg doesnt score when they got those turnovers the game turns out totally different. Both teams have some good players back and both teams lost some good players. I know its 3 months away, but Im predicting a very good game with Ironton coming out on top by a TD.
