Bleeding red have you ever seen the dragons play or you portsmouth98. The dragons are blessed with several skilled people. That could play on any team around here! I have nothing but respect for the west and there team. They are well coached and are going to do just fine in the SOC. I am watching the tape from last night and I still think that west touched that punt in the first half.

No I haven't seen them play, but I've seen teams play their first game with 16 new starters, and it usually takes some time to adjust.

Yes i have seen Fairland. Not impressive. That shows that West is going to struggle replacing all that talent lost last year which is expected. But i think they will have problems with a green line against the schedule they play.
Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
Fairland has excellent athletes. Bloomfield would start on any school in southern ohio. They have a nice quarterback and excellent team speed. West moved the ball on them the first half, they just kept making mistakes and couldn't sustain a drive. Credit Fairland for playing good defense. West has struggled with fairland for the last few years, including a hard fought victory with a great team last year. They seem to bring it against West and then loose confidence for the rest of the year. I think West really paid the price for having only one scrimmage against a down Gallia team where other teams had 3. With a young team that really showed. Good thing is they adjusted and pulled it out. The offensive line will be fine.

Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
Everybody stop and take a deep breath. Fairland has a new coaching staff, and a new offense. We might have under estimated them some what. The game we watched from last year, they threw the ball twice. This is why I think scounting is very important. We was not ready for the spread.
Why on earth we only had 1 scrimmidge game I well never understand. With the seniors we lost last year. And not letting freshman play varsity. The AD and ASST AD(Tripplet) drop the ball on that one.
We might not rule the SOC again this year, but everybody can see the talent we have. So just be patient Siders our time is coming.

Hatin on coach T, I love it....Just waiting to see some of you armchair coaches eat crow.
Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
I think this team will take more from this game than had they won going away. These young guys learned to never give up and to believe in what the coaches say. They completely changed the defensive strategy at the half and the kids executed it to a T. He now has their attention for this week.

This is not hatin on coach T, just calling it like I see it. Right now I would't trade Coach Tripplet for any coach in our area.
Last years team was a very talented team, but they would have lost this game. We would have lost our composure. And the flags would have been flying. This game is a huge step for a very young team. We have a very big challenge this week, if we can get past the Trojans, in extremly tough atmosphere, lookout.

west is in trouble!! they barely beat a team in the worst conference in the state.

I just don't understand the logic with these statements. You have a young team made up of sophs and juniors (only about 4 or 5 seniors play). They make all kinds of mistakes, come out flat, and give up a couple td's to a skilled team running an offense that they weren't prepared to see, with 4 new starters in the defensive backfield. They make adjustments, then come out and score 15 points in about 13 minutes while giving up negative yardage in a half. To me these are positive things.
If that defense continues to play like that (you could see their confidence rise and they starterd playing faster) they will be awsome by SOC play. Those big backs will get yardage with a mediocre line. When he moves a couple kids around on the o-line, it will look like a different team. Seen it before.
By the way, I thought both QB's really looked good considering it was their first varsity games. Both looked athletic. I liked Locker in that Pistole. Ratliff can really throw the ball.

bucking red- I saw them play at the ovc previews....NOT IMPRESSIVE!
Let me say it again, you cant lose that many talented starting seniors and play at the same level. West will have an ok year but will be a completely different caliber team than last year.

Bleeding Red the dragons showed absolutely nothing and I mean nothing at the previews. They wanted to catch West by surprise and they did. You no nothing about the dragons and your comments show that as well as your bias against West. I wish your team luck against them because they are a pretty good football team as are the dragons.

Shut up...Thats one stupid remark. SOC 1 is worse then the OVC and that thats just in our area. That isnt counting the whole state!
Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
You West haters kill me "cant give them young WEST SIDE MEN that hung in there and fought for this win any credit" Its ok we know we have a young team but a young team that knows how to win. If you think that Fairland is not a good team than just be thinkful you dont have to play them. Anyway this game is in the books and WEST got the W so all you WEST haters just need to let it go and face the fact WEST is not going to be 0 and 10 and will have more Ws in the book by the end of the season.
Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
All I can say is look at last year...Last year at half time the score of the Fairland vs. West game was 7-0...and the only reason West scored was because of a lucky touchdown...However West played good defense as they did Friday (they were lights out the second half on friday, and fairland couldn't run the ball on them the entire game). After week 1, everyone was still writing off West as mediorce, then they came out and silenced everyone against Portsmouth. Now I completely understand that the circumstances of last year and this year are different, West is a young, green team...they had one scrimmage and two passing camps they attended...give them some time, I think by the time Soc play comes around, they will be hard to beat. This team is fast and very strong...I agree the line didn't is look as good as they should of, but by the second half (and after making some very good halftime adjustments) West's conditioning paid off and they pushed Fairland around at will. Also, contrary to what people believe, I think that Fairland is better than advertised...I could see them beating Chesapeake and South Point, I honestly think they are the best non-conference team West plays this year...We will just have to see how it plays out week 10...Don't write off the Senators or you will be sorry.

Re: Fairland @ West 8/28
The first half was a little ugly for West. After they got it together they looked good. The line on both sides of the ball started working as a unit.
The quaterbacks look good it apeared that when Locher was in that everything began working a little smoother. They need to tap one or the other as the one and leave it that way i can see were this is a unneeded destaction for the rest of the team.
